About this deal

Is it possible he can help a weary Monkey, or might he interfere and thereafter smudge the work across the sky? How the Stars Came to Be" is a great read aloud for K-5, and could be read independently by older student (4-5). The sun takes pity on the girl and throws a golden ray of light down to earth, where it shatters into a million glittering pieces. She loves folklore tales and stories of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and these have been a rich source of inspiration in a number of her illustrations. However, a monkey steals her bag of glittering pieces at one point, and when the two of them fight over the bag, the rest of the shards spill into the sky, ruining her patterns but lighting the way for her father.

We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. How the Stars Came To Be is about the story of a Fisherman's daughter who was worried about her father when the moon was not in the sky. When the Sun finds her sobbing one morning, he offers her a way to ensure that there will always be light in the darkness. This story has some of the most beautiful artwork, and gives children a great way to think about how the stars got to be in the places they are in, and why they make the constellations they do.However, the stars make the perfect guiding light for her father and shine beautifully in the sky, even though they are not placed in her perfect manner. With many a children's book the text is placed almost randomly on the page ruining the power of the illustrations. This book would be a great way to compare world folklore with newer stories, just as modern variations on fairytale are used. In the story, a fisherman's daughter worries he won't be able to find his way home when the moon disappears, so the sun helps her to make the stars to guide him home.

Definitely recommend for any other fans of really pretty picture books, and/or mythology and world tales. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! A cute story of a daughters genisis of constelstions and the milky way to guide her fisherfather home lavisly illustrated. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! It explains how she placed the north star to always lead him north, and the other stars in perfect consolations of animals who wanted their portrait in the sky.

The book: This is a story about how the sun helped a little girl light up the sky in the absence of the moon at night.

In some respects it's hard to focus on the story, an original folktale, because the images are so mesmerizing. A beautifully designed, deluxe edition of Poonam Mistry's CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal shortlisted children’s book, with a newly illustrated cover printed on a satin silk finish book cloth, with gold detailing and edges. Influenced by traditional Indian textiles, paintings and ornaments, the intricate illustrations are hand-drawn in black ink before being manipulated by computer software to incorporate colour and adjust composition. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. When she chases after him he throws the stars to the sky placing them imperfectly unlike her placements.
