About this deal

Aromatics is a fragrance that has always dried down very differently when sprayed on clothing versus on skin. That kind of ylang ylang is very typical of scents of decades ago and I haven't ever encountered it in contemporary fragrances except for Teo Cabanel's Alahine. Whether or not that's a bad thing is up to you, but I think there's a time and place for scents such as this.

After the initial dry down, which to me is an overwhelmingly cold and clammy forest floor, I get an intensified, slutified, earthy, witchy mimic of my own natural skin odour. Overall, I'm glad I have it, but I think it will take me years to work through this half fl oz bottle. |-.it's not my favorite perfume because I'm more of a gourmand girly, but its really nice and i like it! Perhaps chamomile, which I think often smells astringent when used in perfume, but I'm not sure if that's the marigold. My 79-year-old mother-in-law (who looks about 50) wears it though, which kinda spoils it on me for my husband and children 😅 but I still love it. Honestly I LOVE chypre fragrances and I find this TOTALLY unisex but haven't owned a bottle in YEARS.

i don't really like the beginning, it's very foresty, like a forest-like smell with a little sweetness, but when it wears down it smells so good. The current version, well, I do not want to be negative, but just let me say that this evoked the following evening when a skunk walked into the tent. I have a friend who also wears this but smells like a totally different perfume (still overpowering). But as I age and start to appreciate the beauties of the true bitter chypres, I realize that this perfume (a reformulation of Chant's original creation, alas, but it smells pretty much like what I remember) does indeed have a pretty floral heart.

I've had this in my rotation this past week and this fragrances, whether you love it or not, is impressive.I never utilize the "spray and walk through" method of putting fragrances on, but I'll make an exception for this one. I think it's the in-your-face, dry, masculine quality--yet still recognizably Chypre--that makes it seem similar. It is reserved for the evening as such a strong, chypre, oakmoss, patchouli, incense and florals filled perfume is simply best enjoyed alone. As i sprayed it on my wrist I had to immediately wash it away and still the terrible smell lingers for hours.

Currently I can only wear the body lotion, half a pea amount and this way I can almost get away with it…. But for some reason this comes off quite masculine to my nose, probably from its aromatic/earthy/mossy character. I always had tons of compliments and I actually started wearing it because of smelling it on a friend's mother.I find that spraying the current version on clothes keeps the fragrance smelling like those beautiful bracing top-notes and it doesn't dry down into the powdery-sandalwood-patchouli accord that I dislike. She doesn't have time for fun or frivolous encounters because her life is scripted towards her career goals. Initially brightly floral and herbal, it is also inky-dark and mossy, powdery and soapy, woody and musky, earthy and spicy.
