About this deal

Overlooking St James's Park and located just minutes from HM Treasury, the Houses of Parliament and Horse Guards Parade, we have 12 flexible meeting and event rooms including our wood panelled Lecture Theatre and our stunning Elizabethan Library. The two strongest options were the sale of 8-12 Old Queen Street and 3 Birdcage Walk, consolidating the headquarters in a newly refurbished 1 Birdcage Walk; and the sale of the entire building and a move to freehold or leased premises elsewhere in London. It is in that light that I would like to take the opportunity to update those of you who might have missed these conversations on the latest work regarding our building.

I loved the characters, it’s setting in Bristol in the early 1790ies, the upheaval caused by the French Revolution. When it comes to painting any surface, be it woodwork, metalwork or masonry, make sure to put the work in before application To get the best effect, ensure surfaces are smooth, bump and dirt free before applying a primer and the final choice of colour. Helen Dunmore's final novel, Birdcage Walk, is a piece of historical fiction set in 1792, in Bristol. Set in a period of political upheaval in Europe, Birdcage Walk is a multi-layered novel that provides an intimate and, at times, troubling picture of a marriage seen through the eyes of Lizzie Tredevant. We are coming to the moment when we need to make a decision about the future of our Birdcage Walk headquarters. Soothing and slightly earth-toned, this neutral shade is a great choice for a calming but deep colour.

Well developed characters and a unique perspective kept my interest; even though the plot doesn't show up in the first half of the book. In gothic style, these feelings build one upon another, until even the house and the cliff it sit's atop, become beautiful yet gloomy harbingers of an unnamed doom. To kill another human being is like crossing a river by a bridge which is then swept away behind you.Lizzie Fawkes, the protagonist of the novel, is the product of a childhood lived in Radical circles, 'where each step of the French Revolution is followed with eager idealism'. Lizzie Fawkes has grown up in Radical circles where each step of the French Revolution is followed with eager idealism. The dialogue felt forced, unnatural, and repetitive, and the prose and plot were too slow, and plodded along.

Unfortunately, there are a few problems with the book that prevent it from reaching the highest standards. During this time I published several collections of poems, and wrote some of the short stories which were later collected in Love of Fat Men. As Lizzie discovers that not everything is as perfect as she had convinced herself, we learn about her husband’s jealous character, his endeavours which are slowly but surely going bust, and Lizzy’s warm relationship with her mother and Hannah (their servant and close friend from when she was an infant). The books detail as to setting, place and life in the late 1700's were exceptionally well handled, but I wasn't really interested in a lot of it, particularly the extended birthing scenes for Thomas and the drawn out death of Lizzie's mother . Just a minute’s walk from Westminster and St James’s Park underground stations, this prestigious venue couldn’t be more conveniently located.Dunmore has managed to bring life into characters that existed (or some have) in real life, with such intensity that makes you forget yourself, all set into motion from a small script on a headstone! Lizzie Fawkes decides to visit the dressmaker to find out more about Diner's first wife Lucie and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death. Her first novel, Zennor in Darkness, was a remarkable debut, but in comparison suffers from a surplus of detail. Bristol cannot compete with besieged Leningrad when it comes to privation but Lizzie still suffers as Diner’s money fails to materialise and he becomes more combustible. The main characters include the maternal, independent, supportive Lizzie and the jealous, iron-fisted, ruined Tredevant.
