About this deal
Seeing how tight-lipped everyone was about it only made the friend group more antsy to get answers, and readers will be right there with them, ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the dusty archives! This is my fourth audiobook by the performer and they just can't take me to the place I need to go with this type of novel.
The story unfolds like any good horror flock, an engaging group of misfit friends, a dark and haunted woods, and a film project. We rarely see her and her entire purpose is to be Cory’s prize if he survives accidentally rereleasing a demon on the town. He then tells the boys that Henry Black was not The Black Heart Killer, but rather his wife, Jennifer, who had gotten involved with a coven in town. I would only know the difference because of their family dynamic, which was talked about in the book, but there was really no reason to know about it.
Reading this one, I was super impressed to see just how much John’s prose had improved since the short story. Now that they’re filming their latest mini horror movie, they’re finding themselves inching closer and closer to the woods that the town has banned everyone from entering. We have a group of friends, teenagers, who are film students making their own slasher film for class. Plenty of emotion is filled within the pages, each main character has good back story about their home life which adds substance to them. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Steve has released over a dozen novels and novellas as well as a number of collections. He had his first story accepted in the summer of 2021 in the Books of Horror anthology, and an alternate version of the story in the Beach Bodies anthology from DarkLit Press. The story never slowed down once as in fact the pace picked up as the story started to escalate once the friends discovered the grave out in the woods. I tend to enjoy really in-depth descriptions, which enable me to be able to envisage the settings and characters within my mind. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. Looking forward to reading more by this author as I have another one of his books on my kindle that is simmering and I will be stepping into it soon.
