This unique blend of un-peated Scotch whisky and the finest botanicals is the first liqueur from fine spirits creator, blender and bottler Elixir Distillers. This whisky liqueur will fill your senses with aromas of cinnamon-and-golden syrup biscuits, lemon, cloves, vanilla pods, honey, nutmeg and eucalyptus. Others have noticed the similarity to Drambuie -I can see where they're coming from, and there is a similar trend, but even by the standards of whisky liqueurs, this is, sans mixing, diabetes-inducingly sweet. The toffee becomes cinder toffee as vanilla builds, backed up by green, leafy herbal notes of tarragon. There's distinct notes initially of honey and golden syrup before a spicier edge reveals itself with hints of chai, ginger roots and citrus peel.

With it’s added herbs and spices, I find similarities with this and my whisky based recipe for hot toddy. Highland Nectar combines the distinctive character of Highland whisky with a characterful array of herbs, spices and fruit, including bitter orange, star anise, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger and cinnamon, to create a silky smooth liqueur. Starting with their base gin, EG have added sugar and infused the spirit with mandarins and orange blossom for a fruity an . The other spices were there but I found they was the right amount for each one, so it tasted more of a blend of them and gave a distinct taste.Experience a wonderful blend of Highland Whisky and sweet spices in this Scottish liqueur; Highland Nectar. I’m not a fan of straight whisky so I won’t try and go into detail of something I have little experience of but what I can say is even if you’re not a fan of straight whisky, but you do like sweet drinks, then this is a great middle ground of the two. It's warming but has enough of a light touch to work in summer months, particularly when put in a highball with lemonade or ginger ale.
