The keycaps feel solid and don't wobble much, but are made of cheap ABS plastic and may get slippery over time due to the oil in your fingertips. The force required to actuate each key on the G513 Carbon is 45 grams force (gf), the same as the rating for the Cherry MX Brown or MX Speed versions of Corsair's K95 RGB Platinum, but less than the 50gf demanded by the "Green Switch" version of Razer's BlackWidow Chroma V2. Unfortunately, the keycaps are made of ABS plastic that feels cheap and will attract oil from your fingertips. The G513 Carbon sports not only the option of configuring lighting zones by way of the downloadable Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) utility, but also backlighting customization per-key.

It’s why Razer, for example, has many different types of switches in their different products, that all have varied feel and responsiveness. The special Logitech software works only with Windows, and it allows you to customize the keyboard to your heart’s content. Sadly expired as I found it impossible to get hold of them - I’d been trying to contact them a matter of weeks before it ran out. Assuming you're a mere mortal, the switches on this keyboard are bound to last well beyond the point that you're tired of using it. Of course, switch feel is all in the hands of the beholder, and a linear lover will always struggle to move over to the tactile side without a learning curve.While that opinion hasn’t really changed all that much, I’ve always wanted Logitech to offer an alternative to people like me since keyboard switches are never a one size fits all kind of deal. Too many gaming keyboards out there don’t have palm rests so I’m really glad to see Logitech is jumping in with their own. The memory foam quickly and fully recovers from pressure, so every use is as comfortable as the first. You can make, say, the WASD keys light up as a group, hued as you like, and you also have the freedom to choose among 16.
