About this deal

Hi, if Steve or someone else can help me I would be much greatful (sorry for my English in advance). Secondly, because it allows more light onto the camera's sensor, the range of situations in which Nikon's hybrid autofocus will use the faster phase-detection method will be greater. I know there is, but apart from an extreme bokeh and some more DR, what difference 99% of the people would really notice?

Secondly, the images in this lens review are not a portfolio, but they are meant to show a variety of situations, angles, f-stops, etc. mostly fits the bill, but it’s becoming expensive if you’re not an extremely patient auction watcher, and it has an assortment of other quirks mostly linked to its innovative stepper-motor micro-shutter (it DOES have a viewfinder, which is nice, but that makes its screen very small). I wanted a real digital camera with a normal field of view and a sensor big enough to deliver good quality and a bit of subject separation for my kid pics. It was able to focus, in complete darkness over a completely black body of water on a string of lights running across the center of the frame. I don’t disagree with you though on Nikon’s stubbornness, that is true 😉 They do, in some respects, need to wake up.

It could render beautifully but there’s something missing, I think this has more to do with the limitations of a smaller sensor. Will this relatively paltry slab of silicon be able to grab enough photons to transmute my artistic will into eye-slashing files? One of the primary usage scenarios for a large aperture lens is to separate the main subject from the background. It’s somewhat resistant to flaring but the same couldn’t be said for ghosts as you’ll get blobs in your frame when you’re not careful. Ease-of-use and being light-weight is the main theme for the Nikon 1system, it’s so convenient that little hands won’t have any problem operating it.

This has obvious advantages in terms of not bothering my subjects, but it also gives me the feeling that I’m not really taking pictures as I repeatedly mash the shutter button. Use that effect to create flattering portraits, to draw attention to a particular area in your shots and much more. I woke up in the morning with a mild hangover and my breath smelled of the delicious meal I had just before I caught the last bus home. Some reviewers wrote hopefully about an anticipated enthusiast-oriented V4, the presumed successor to 2014’s V3. Stopping down, however, results in moderately loud noise coming from the aperture blades closing down. you can read my review of the lens here) still have some advantages which make the setup very fun to use. But mostly because I was putting the lens through it’s paces shooting every type of situation I could think of. About the only thing you can do externally is to add the optional HB-N104 lens hood, which bayonets on the front of the lens but is a bit different than the usual tunnel of plastic (or metal) you usually get with a hood.

The fact that many of my images taken with the V1 are rather popular (500 views on average) reassures me that I’m not a deluded fanboy praising the camera to the skies. As I personally think that at base ISO (and especially with 14mp) the V1/V2 might be a bit of a closet close up machine. I think it’s a neat thing to have and there are probably some use cases where it’s invaluable, but for me personally, the work involved in whittling down the extravaganza of files it kicks out is rarely worth the upside. If you want exhaustive image quality details, go back to some of the contemporary reviews (but don’t start at DPreview, which passed on the camera — maybe they smelled the stink of death on it). Overall: For the most part, exactly what you’d expect from a low cost, fast, normal prime with one exception: not much loss of contrast wide open.Visit our Competitions Forum, where you'll find our monthly competition and other external competitions to enter.

to sum it up i feel we must reject this camera as it seems to be coming from the nikon’s marketing dept and we need to tell them to come back with something better …. The Nikon 1 camera has a small one-inch sensor that you must multiply a given lens focal length by 2. Color fringing is noticeable when the lens is used wide-open, but this phenomenon can be easily corrected if you shoot RAW and use CA removal tools.Stopping it down to about f/4 helps but you’ll lose a lot of blurriness as a trade-off for cleaner-looking blurs. There’s presumably not a ton of ED glass in this low-cost, lightweight lens, which probably explains the less-than-total longitudinal chromatic aberration correction. That means anytime you can shoot with a faster aperture, your camera will be able to use a lower ISO for any given shutter speed. is the sixth lens in our growing 1 NIKKOR lineup and an excellent addition to every photographers bag.
