About this deal

Electronic Disco opens Disc 2, with the superb long version of ‘Beat The Clock’ from Sparks, Cerrone’s ground-breaking ‘Supernature’ and dance-floor smash ‘From East To West’ by Voyage. Village People, Hot Chocolate and 10cc follow – as does the second featured track from ABBA, ‘SOS’, and Terry Jacks’ No.

The only thing is that they use the good 12" Disco Remix of Relight My Fire (6:46) from 1980 and not the great original mix with the long intro of Loleatta Holloway: Vertigo / Relight My Fire (9:44) from 1979, mixed by John Luongo. When purchasing the two channels, Mushroom TV agreed that Channel U and Fizz TV should be rebranded. Each record has a sleeve with a front cover featuring different a kitsch design element of the era and has annotated track listings on the rear with bullet-pointed facts/info about each song.Channel U commissioned the first ' grime comedy', [5] an animated adult sitcom named The Booo Krooo. My only reason for not giving 5 stars, as is happening quite often, the manufacturers are including re-recordings of the hits, not original releases . Channel U was a significant outlet not only for established artists, but also for those who are just starting out, helping the breakthrough for acts such as Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Chip, Wretch 32, Devlin, Giggs, Skepta and N-Dubz. In October 2005, the first annual Channel U Awards were held in London with live performances from its underground playlist. The parent company of Fizz TV and Channel U went into voluntary liquidation at the beginning of February, 2009, before being purchased by Mushroom TV.

After proving a popular feature in the magazine, Boo Kroo were given their own show on Channel U – which is how this video for the track (produced by Sticky) came about. That's Christmas is expected to revert back to That's 70s, and move back to channel 366 after Christmas or early January. Starting with 1970, each side of vinyl represents one year of the 1970s with Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ kicking things off perfectly as it draws a close on the optimism of the 1960s and ushers in the new decade. On 27 December 2019, the channel was rebranded as Now 70s, becoming the third decade-oriented channel in the Now-branded portfolio. Another massive, rarely played today hit is David Soul's "Silver Lady", and any compilation that includes the wonderful "Silly Games" by Janet Kay, the one-hit wonders Marshall Hain with their Rhodes piano driven "Dancing In The City", plus a song that sound-tracked my childhood, Mungo Jerry's "In The Summertime", is doing ok by me.It was described as acceptable so I was expecting it to be badly damaged , but for 1p I took a risk, It was only dented a bit on the side and it was hardly noticeable i was well happy. Some of the music is quite light (Baccara / Boney M / Pilot) but there are also some stone cold classics from Blondie, T-Rex, 10cc and Sweet.

Disc one tracks include the original 12-inch version of ‘Are You Ready For Love’ by Elton John, the rare long version of Wings’ non-album single ‘Goodnight Tonight’ (both 1979) and the seven-minute cut of Cliff Richard’s ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ and the 12″ mix of ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’, and the full length version of The B-52s’ classic ‘Rock Lobster’. Five records later, The Buggles‘ ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ has a similar role, anticipating the 1980s.Jackson’s ‘Automatic Lover’ and some ‘Galactic Funk’ from Meco with ‘Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band’ – available here in its 7. Dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip criticised Channel U in their song "Fixed", as did Lowkey, who cited the absence of any innovation and the channel's lack of desire to take risks. In between, this NOW presents the 70s box set unashamedly opts for the biggest acts and the biggest hits although there’s a few omissions, the most notable being the hard-to-license David Bowie).

Huge hits from Donna Summer (‘Love’s Unkind’), David Soul with ‘Silver Lady’, and smashes from Suzi Quatro, Clout and Bonnie Tyler follow – and the first of two tracks from Brotherhood Of Man with ‘Figaro’ (their Eurovision winner ‘Save Your Kisses For Me’ is on Disc 3). Alessi Brothers "Oh Lori" is a seemingly forgotten easy-listening classic, as is "From New York to L. From 20 November 2019 [21] until 27 December 2019, Now 80s used Total Country's slot since the slot that is normally used for Now 80s was used for Now Christmas, efficiently ceasing the channel's broadcast in the process. Following the success of the Westwood show the channel further developed its programming by licensing a lifestyle TV series, The Ballers Show, in 2006. Missing on this compilation is DAN HARTMAN's long version of " INSTANT REPLAY ( 8:19 ) , although it is included on the expanded version of his album " INSTANT REPLAY ".A 70s compilation would not be complete without some David Essex ("Hold Me Close") and Hot Chocolate ("So You Win Again"). from Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel with ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)’ – plus three of the ultimate pop hooks of all-time from Mungo Jerry, The Mixtures and Blue Swede. All discs play correctly and it is nice to hear some of those tunes you had forgotten about from many years ago. from Manhattan Transfer with ‘Chanson D’Amour’, Simon Park Orchestra with ‘Eye Level’, ‘I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)’ from The New Seekers, and starting off with the sublime ‘Forever And Ever’ from Demis Roussos.
