For a book weighing in at a mere 126 pages, this one contains impressive depth and contains a thorough and satisfying treatment of the subject. From the incisive new notions of manatheism and mana-facturing to a dazzling new reading of Genet’s The Balcony as a clue to the shifts of sovereignty, the book provides a panoply of conceptual tools to think about the absurdity of the present. Ryan Michler is a man who not only understands this but applies the principles of sovereignty in his own life. I had so much hope that the book would similarly address a specific ethos or code for young men to aspire to; something that has traditionally been passed on by fathers, father figures, coaches, teachers, mentors and other strong role models for ages.

However, and that is the reason why I love this book; in my opinion it brings an inner conversation to oneself from the stand point of pourpose, values, and essence of being from ones personal history to a man-kind history.Mazzarella examines the contemporary merger of consumer brand and political brand and the cross-contamination of politics and economics, warning against all too easy laments about the corruption of politics by marketing.

Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material. Santner analyzes the collective dream-work that sustains a new sort of authoritarian charisma or mana, a mana-facturing process that keeps us riveted to an excessively carnal incorporation of sovereignty.In highly erudite fashion, Feldman cites examples from ethnography, but also from philosophy, literature, pop culture, and a wide range of other contexts to support his argument through different historical periods… I found it very refreshing to read a book of such wide historical and intellectual scope. The writing is mediocre, the content seems highly general and I was hoping that by the end of the book there might be something of value yet for me it fell flat.
