About this deal

If a player rolls three dynamite symbols over the course of his turn, a terrible accident occurs and the player suffers one damage. It’s nothing to do with the mathematics of probability (less than a hundredth of a hundredth of a percent). When the sheriff is killed or when all the outlaws and renegades are killed, then the game ends with victory going to outlaws, renegades, or the sheriff and deputies, as appropriate. Since only the sheriff role is open, you don't know exactly who is helping you and who is hurting you … except through their actions. You really don’t want to kill an outlaw as an outlaw, and the Sheriff killing the deputy is pretty much the worst possible decision.

As an important lesson on moderation in alcohol consumption, every beer lets you heal any player (including yourself) one health. Players are dealt a secret card that indicates their relationship to other players, and save for the Sheriff this is not revealed to the table. The plastic dice are sturdy and feature indented icons; the cards are all quite thick; and the cardboard is thick and linen-textured. Everyone gets an identity card that gives them a special power, and everything else is deduction and dice.

I’m not saying here it’s impossible to work out who has which roles, but rather it’s not fun to do it. The hidden role has to mean something and revealing your secret should have consequences on the game.

There aren’t that many symbols, the card abilities are all fairly straightforward, and the game just makes sense. BGG is pretty split on whether it works at four (most say no), and there’s a broad consensus that it works well at five. The Dice Game, the only player you can trust is yourself (unless you forget which role you have and accidentally sabotage yourself). There's even some pushing of your luck as you decide whether to chance arrows or dynamite by rerolling. You'll find him rolling fistfuls of dice, reveling in thematic goodness, and giving Farmerlenny a hard time for liking boring stuff.itself, I don’t have any Western-themed games, so it’s a nice theme in contrast to the overwhelming number of fantasy / Renaissance themed games I have.

The popular card game of spaghetti-western shootouts becomes a press-your-luck dice game, retaining all the hidden-role hilarity of the original! The dice chucking part of the game is great, so long as you don’t mind a fair dollop of luck with your games. If you believe board game accessibility is important and can support our Patreon you'd be helping make sure the site can continue with this valuable work. Throw in Indian attackers, variable players powers, dice and group of people wanting to have fun and you have Bang! In the event that’s going to be a problem, a group can play with a restricted set without major issue.I could probably do without the seemingly obligatory emphasized breasts, which stand out like… you know. There are also Native American attacks and Dynamite explosions, which can cause big amounts of damage. They have specific powers which can allow you to hand out additional arrows, fire greater distances and a whole host of other things. That’s asking for a lot, but making them interchangeable in some way would have been pretty cool at the cost of adding complexity.
