About this deal

It almost has the feel of an audio signal with the mids scooped out - there's some light floral, citrusy stuff on top and a deep, resiny, syrupy base underneath. I keep it to close encounter situations and dates, and so far I've been happy with this, even tho I wish it lasted longer. After around 1 h, the opening starts to fade away, revealing some of the very nice and warm base notes. I wear it at night or indoors only because the smells doesn't project that much when wearing it outside hot weather or summer like some hot country of mine.

But paying that sort of designer premium for absolutely dismal performance/projection is nothing short of heinously immoral. For me, someone who has a fair few bottles of fragrance, it’s nice to have a couple that just work in several occasions.Very spicy, with a hint of underlying sweetness - no point in clarifying further, you've most likely heard it all before already. Performance wise, it stays on my skin for about 4 - 6 hours, but others around you won't be able to smell it unless they're directly smelling the area where you sprayed it.

At this point I just hope I got either a bad batch number or a fake because it simply doesn't add up to my expectations. If you want an economical fragrance that announces your presence on a first date, go for something spicier like Jovan Sex Appeal or Mercedes Benz for Men.

Furthermore, I did notice the faint presence of a few aldehydes Olivier Polge likes to use that, in combination with the orange blossom and the amber, give an almost urinal cake-esque vibe. After a minute or two u will slowly start to pick up sweet cardamom , mellow tobacco and warm amber. It's like if James Bond went through a goth phase and started wearing black leather and listening to Nine Inch Nails.

The oriental character is quite moderated, and comes across more tobacco than agarwood, perhaps that suggests a slight cedar note? The combination of The One's smooth, sensual top notes and the strong, sweet tobacco the other fragrances creates a unique and wonderful scent that lasts a really long time. I'm pretty sure this scent is reformulated, because I tried it in spring 2022 and it was a beautiful, rich scent that felt almost gourmand-like with a La Nuit de L'Homme-like moderate projection. I can see why people think this and Jazz Club are two sides of the same coin when it comes to those warm amber and tobacco notes, maybe 70% similar. The scent is pleasant enough but side by side with nearly any other tobacco/amber/resinous spice fragrance it can't compete.
