About this deal

If you are going to crochet a scarf and are looking at knit patterns using the garter stitch, you should note that a crochet row is one pass where a knitted row is two passes to get one ridge. I am trying to stress his strangeness, that he is not of this world, not human, therefore his reactions will be different from ours. A way out soon forms, but Romana and K-9 choose to remain behind to help free a race of enslaved creatures in E-Space ( Warriors' Gate).

The original 4th Doctor scarf colors from the BBC basic scarf were listed as Purple, Camel, Mustard, Rust, Grey, Greenish brown, and Bronze. The first scarf was madebecause somebody kept sending yarn to a knitter and she thought theywanted a long scarf.

To add authenticity to it all, she included her encounters with each scarf and how she got permission to study them! The designer expected the knitter to pick the wool that she liked from the bag, but instead she used up all the wool and created the very long and now iconic Dr Who scarf. The Fourth Doctor's distinctive appearance and manner have made him a target for affectionate parody. The colors presented do not to significantly vary from the Shada scarf in its present state and do not make the subtle distinctions between the original and stunt portions (possibly something to do later).

Douglas Adams wrote the second story, The Pirate Planet (1978), while another newcomer, David Fisher, wrote the third and fourth stories. I am not ashamed to be a doctor who fan but I don't necessarily want a large label which I can't easily remove on display. Fan legend has it that costume designer James Acheson picked up a load of multi-color wool and asked knitter Begonia Pope to create a scarf, and Pope, perhaps mishearing, used *all* the wool, resulting in a scarf that ran 12 feet long.

The above memo isn’t dated, but comes from sometime in the early ‘80s when the BBC sent detailed instructions to a fan’s mother on making the scarf. If you’re new to knitting then you can get involved with the other element of our project and learn to knit! The Fourth Doctor also had a small cameo at the beginning of Dimensions in Time, warning his Third, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh incarnation to watch out for the Rani.

The Fourth Doctor also appears in Sarah Jane's flashback in The Mad Woman in the Attic, via footage taken from The Hand of Fear. I can understand avid Doctor Who fans wanting a replica scarf (just as I’m sure Harry Potter fans have replica scarves, too) and the added benefit of the long scarf is warmth for people who have harsh, cold winters. As New Orleans is a city noted for its Mardi Gras and people costuming “with wild abandon”, fans of the show immediately began to seek to replicate its most prominent costuming feature: THE Scarf.

The first four seasons of these Time Life distributed stories added narration by Howard da Silva at the beginning and end of each episode. The original scarf measured approximately 12 feet (blocked, not including tassels) for its screen debut. If you have a penchant for offering marauding aliens Jelly Babies then this 13 foot long replica of the Fourth Doctor’s (Tom Baker) scarf is for you. Made on a domestic knitting machine this piece takes several hours to complete, using a mixture of wool and acrylic yarns and a further few hours to sew up, fringe and complete , its double thickness to give a very warm and cosy feel to this fabulous scarf.
