About this deal

This revised and updated second edition also contains a new section on how to use the superbly emotive The Emotion Cards to facilitate deeper therapeutic conversations. The relief of having found an image that accurately conveys your familiar mental states, can be profound. I am a founding director of a company that supports approximately 1,800 adults working in education to understand if a child has emotional developmental interruptions and what to do to make a difference.

The addition of the cards will help adults open the conversation with children/young people about difficult feelings. It has some great worksheet in it which are suitable to use with all ages right from about 6 year olds through to adults. She is a British Medical Association award winning author and has published over twenty books, which collectively have been translated into 18 languages and published in 24 countries. One has an image of a garden gate, and the other has an image of a person sleeping in a bed, with a huge thought/dream bubble above them. This beautiful resource is also the perfect supplement to the second edition of Dr Margot Sunderland’s book Draw on Your Emotions.I have used this book and the printable work sheets in many settings as part of my counselling practice and I have found them to be very useful with individuals of all ages as it always the individual to problem solve their issue and escape their 'fog'. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This manual contains a series of structured "easy to do" picture exercises to help people of all ages express, communicate and deal more effectively with their emotions in everyday life.

The new suggestions will take the work with children from labelling feelings without a real connection to deeper meaning to an integration of feelings, imagination and language that deepen awareness and supports emotional development. In my work, the directives I have found most helpful include pages for strength building, psycho-education and anger awareness/management. This revised and updated second edition also contains a new section on how to use the superbly emotive The Emotion Cards (9781138070981) to facilitate deeper therapeutic conversations. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I particularly like the theoretical explanation mixed with superb, doable activities/exercises and copyable handouts.Dr Margot Sunderland is Director of Education and Training at The Centre for Child Mental Health London, Honorary Visiting Fellow at London Metropolitan University and Integrative Child Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer with over two decades of experience in working with adults, teenagers and children. There are only one or two pages I find even remotely appropriate for working with school aged children (or anyone, for that matter).

The picture activities have been carefully designed to help ease the process of both talking about feelings and exploring life choices, by trying out alternatives safely on paper. Due to the level of functioning/comprehension/attention-span, some of the directives have not been entirely successful. The Emotion Cards are 48 emotive and artistic images designed to help people to review their emotions and their relationships in a meaningful and often transformative way.
