Fabulous 14-year-old single malt from Jura, this expression was matured in a selection of American white oak, bourbon, and American rye whiskey barrels. We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre! Inspired by our history and our island home, our whiskies reflect the unwavering passion and tenacity of the islanders, so it tastes distinctively better because it matters more to those who make it. The Jura 18 Year Old single malt has been matured in American white oak barrels, and is enriched by time spent in French oak wine casks from a Premier Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux producer. Today, almost every family on the island has a member who works in our distillery, with our distillery or in whisky-related tourism.

Blended malt whisky is a combination of single malts from different distilleries whilst a single malt whisky is produced at just one. I am disappointed as Jura was a good distillery once, but this has non of the complexity or warmth that I remember from 15 years ago.The perception that single malt whisky is “better” is subjective, however, it does have the reputation for being the highest quality and is usually more expensive than other whisky.

Single malt distilleries often take pride in their craftsmanship and their adherence to traditional production methods. Light peat, brown sugar and orange on the nose leads to smooth burnt toffee taste, with softer citrus and coffee on the finish. The distillery use lightly-peated malt which produces a light whisky with an almost oily taste to it. The new distillery's architect was William Delmé-Evans, who had previously been involved with Tullibardine and later went on to build Glenallachie.
