Recommencing with the water analogy that characterized his debut disc, Porter saw Liquid Spirit as a logical progression in his burgeoning discography as it touched on some of the same themes, particularly the highs and lows of romance, his childhood, and socio-political observations.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the album, Blue Note presents a special vinyl edition bringing together the original album on 2LP and a disc of bonus tracks and remixes, with 5 tracks available on vinyl for the first time.Those of you into Blue Note jazz may have noticed that original recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder has been painstakingly digitally remastering a lot of the back catalogue to get the best from CD format. All songs written by Gregory Porter, and arranged by Porter, Chip Crawford and Kamau Kenyatta, except where noted.

His playing on the Jazz standard "I Fall in Love too Easily" is the real thing - a wonderful slow ballad that at nearly 8 minutes, stands out as the exception here and an authentic Jazz performance, that would grace any New York Jazz club or classic album. The Independent's Phil Johnson noted "The soulful vocalist follows his two excellent indie albums with a major-label debut that contains few surprises yet deepens the story so far". This is still evident to some extent and Chip Crawford, as main collaborator and pianist is excellent throughout - whether as accompanist or soloist.We also sell coffee-making equipment to help perfect your brew, and gift sets to treat a special someone. But most other tracks are kept short with the voice dominating and there is no shortage of tracks that could be played on the radio.

Movin'" also has some of the authentic Jazz of previous albums and "Liquid Spirit" is probably the most exciting track with its syncopated Double Bass line driving the band. A wide range of music styles can be found on this album - jazz, gospel, ballad, blues, soul - which help paint a pallet of images and textures for the listener. So for me Gregory … lets have more of this… it’s unique and refreshing…and transcends your earlier mainstream jazz albums.
