I find a lot of delight in esoteric, strange things and absurd humor—spending a day gossiping with my friends, going down internet wormholes of my making, reading fiction, shooting the shit on the porch with my husband. I requested permission to reinvent the concept using new questions and a different format, and he kindly obliged. We're on a mission to give you more time for the things that matter most, while leaving this planet better than we found it. To tap into those uninterrupted moments of repose, we turned to our friend, Leigh Patterson of Moon Lists. More recently this has evolved into a workbook that more broadly explores rituals that can allow for a life experienced more deeply, using deceivingly simple prompts, list-making exercises, and sensorial inventories to invoke conversations, connection, and personal awareness.Loosely organized around the phases of the moon and punctuated with references to '70s astrology, architecture, and art, Moon Lists encourages journalers to stop and reflect on the precious moments in their lives before time passes them by. I’m not sure who the target reader is here but it didn’t speak to me, a 40 year old spiritual woman. We spoke with Leigh about the inspiration behind this project and the importance of making time for deep and unexpected modes of thinking. Choosing the way you observe, reflect on, and document what’s going on at present is a reminder: you are in control of your narrative.

Leigh created a workbook to accompany our Fall 22 campaign, and answered her own prompts during a week of traveling through the stillness of New Mexico. With Moon Lists, I strive to strike a balance between asking questions that can prompt deeper or unexpected thinking without feeling overly self-serious, embarrassingly earnest (or like I’m advocating for narcissism disguised as self-care).Appropriately for summer, Cancer is a water sign ruled by the moon, both of which symbolize Cancer’s tendency towards changeable moods and their deep connection with the rhythms of the world.
