About this deal

She is a huge fan of 90s rom coms, Bridget Jones, Four Weddings a Funeral and 'anything with Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon in it. Overall: absolutely must read, honestly, smartly, beautifully written novel that I absolutely recommend! While the character of Audrey frustrated me at times, I enjoyed this novel by Sophie Cousens and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction.

And now that Fred, the first man who ever made her feel "something" is back before her wedding, she wonders if that is a sign she's about to make a big mistake. After an embarrassing encounter with the most attractive man she's ever seen in real life, she arrives at her hotel and realizes she's grabbed the wrong suitcase from the airport. The true heart of the story is about her struggle with her past and whether she’s willing to create a new, more honest future for herself. I absolutely loved the eclectic characters that were part of Josh and Audrey’s past and future - the astronomical element that was threaded throughout the story was grounding. Thank you Netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for providing me with an arc of Before I Do in exchange for an honest review. A total page-turner - with an endearing protagonist and packed with humour and warmth , Before I Do is a dazzling romance . Summary: After a “meet cute” to end “meet cutes”, Audrey and Fred spend an incredible day together in what feels like the start of a relationship destined for greatness.

I especially loved the evolution of Josh and Audrey's relationship and how much they both grew and changed, but also stayed the same. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is The One.

From there it follows several timelines: the wedding, Audrey and Josh’s story and a story of Audrey meeting a man named Fred at a photobooth and spending one serendipitous day together as well as her mothers many husbands, one of them being quite abusive. this story explored themes of fate, friendship, grief, soulmates, and what it means to find “the one”. Sophie Cousens worked in TV in London for over twelve years, producing shows such as The Graham Norton Show, Big Brother and Russell Howard's Good News. Readers will be especially drawn to Audrey, a woman unafraid to chase her own happiness and face challenges head-on. But we also get to see the many times she met Josh through the years and how he ended up being someone she wanted to be with.

Witty and heartfelt, Before I Do takes a familiar trope and turns it on its head, and readers will find themselves tearing through this book to find out how it ends. And it was great to see an acknowledgement through other characters about how hard marriage is and how often it sucks. On a whim, she left behind her own strip of photos, hoping this stranger would come back for his and find hers. Audrey is about to get married and night before her wedding the guy she had the best day with, turns up with her soon to be husband's sister plus one.

Audrey feels a bit "off" the night before their wedding and wonders if this is what she really wants and can she and Josh make each other truly happy. We go back and forth in time, sometimes we go back and visit Audrey’s time with Fred, and sometimes we go back and see her time with Josh.
