About this deal

This didn’t work well, the reason being that the board was coated with a few coats of primer and a number of top coats. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging .

This is not the case with a belt sander, orbital sander or sanding disc, all of which leave scratch marks if you don’t sand with the grain. This allowed me to test out how well the sander worked on a handful of 5 x 25-inch surfaces (each with pronounced grain) and on edges, as I’d cut a 90-degree notch into the shelves to allow them to sit alongside hanging shelves I’d already installed. As a professional, a lot is expected of you: speed, reliability, competence, endurance – in short: excellent results.

Includes: RS034 Soft Sanding Pad, 2609199179 Micofilter Dust Canister, VAC002 Vacuum Hose Adapter, Sanding Disc, 2609170071 Dampening Ring, Carrying Bag. While an orbital sander works fine for finishing, the random orbit sander is superior, in that it allows you to do heavy material removal, as well as finishing.

With a comfortable soft grip top and body design, this tool has variable speed control from between 7500 and 12,000 opm to match the speed to the task. The Milwaukee won the speed test but after the ~3minutes, I had to wait 20minutes or so for the vibration tingles to leave my hands. I did find that the 4mm was distinctly slower than the 6mm of the Milwaukee – in my test on sections of redgum, the Milwaukee was a good 30 seconds faster on the same surface area, while both took under 4 minutes to complete. It sands evenly which means I don't have to fear making start and stop marks, and the filter keeps the dust well. The BOSCH ROS20VSC 5” Random Orbit Sander/Polisher delivers fast removal and a well-blended, ultra-smooth finish, so woodworkers and finish carpenters can sand quickly and to exacting standards. Perhaps if you’re using it in the automotive industry, needing 1000 grit or higher, it may be an issue.

According to the Bosch FAQ section, Bosch blue products carry a twelve-months-from-date-of-purchase warranty. In Australia, it is only available in one package – the box I have with two sanding discs, the two sanding pad sizes, the sander and the cannister. So there you go, two Bosch sanders and yet again (if you’ve watched my previous Bosch video reviews on their router or tracksaw) I sound like a Bosch fanboy. The GEX125-150 AVE is the stand out with nearly no vibration, good to great ergonomics, and good dust extraction. Basic components include an on/off button on the front, speed control settings on the back, an 8-foot power cable, and a 5-inch-diameter sanding pad which sits under a dampening ring (this includes an integrated brake system designed to eliminate swirl marks on your finished project). It seems 5-10 years ago Bosch use to be the unquestioned king, but in the past 5 years of reviews, while Bosch still seems to top most charts I’ve seen more people saying the quality isn’t what it used to be.
