About this deal

Also found on many other DVDs, this purports to help you set up your system for the best reproduction of both picture and sound, ala stand-alone programs such as Video Essentials. Story reels film somewhat kinetic versions of the storyboards and accompany them with dialogue and effects. Consigliabile quindi sia per i più piccini, per la grandissima qualità dell'immagine, sia per i collezionisti. It's quite delightful and fascinating to discover how the different noises were assembled (and I get to hear more of PT's distinctive "plinking").

These aren't the same as deleted scenes; as the filmmakers explain, most segments created for animated films gets used because they’re so expensive to make. Both soundtracks offer a stunning multi-channel presentation which - given suitable equipment - will happily compete with anything that's released today. Take the scene where Flick tries to cheer up Princess Dot who is down because she's too little to fly. Originally there was a whole segment in which he went over the issue with the circus bugs; the clip runs 99 seconds. Featuring a star-studded voice cast, A Bug's Life presents an amazing new perspective on teamwork and determination! It's very interesting to see how the movie changed and how it stayed the same; much of it is similar, though some characters are altered or nonexistent and the structure is different. There's also a "model turnaround" for Hopper; this presents a computer maquette of the character, and the camera revolves around it to show it from all angles. Even when things take on a darker tone, and we descend into the bowels of the ant hive and when Flik is in the Bug City, the shadows and darker colours look utterly convincing with a flawless presentation, offering depth and detail that looks incredibly filmic. At long last Disney has gone back into Pixar's catalog of films and started to release them in high definition. It's sharp, it's utterly clear and both the greenery and the blue tones of the ants are displayed with depth and contrast that rivals Pixar's more recent releases (and dare I say it, this looks better than Finding Nemo).

Sony 36" WEGA KV-36FS12 Monitor; Sony DA333ES Processor/Receiver; Panasonic CV-50 DVD Player using component outputs; Michael Green Revolution Cinema 6i Speakers (all five); Sony SA-WM40 Subwoofer. They talk about the genesis of the project, the state of Pixar after Toy Story, the casting, story changes etc. Preproduction is the most extensive section and it covers all of the work that occurred prior to formal "filming. and wrapping the package up is the stunning short “Geri's Game” - and if you're familiar with Toy Story 2 you'll recognise the main character immediately. I don't think I ever saw this one in the theaters, and it's very entertaining; I love to see trailers that don't just collect shots from the film.

Placement is the word here, and whether it be the ambient buzz of undergrowth, or an ant's footsteps, or the screeching predator that is the Robin, effects wrap around the viewer with an enveloping 3-dimensional mix. I won't declare that it definitely isn't him - I don't want to be embarrassed if it is - but I don't think it is.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I didn't find these drawings to be as interesting as those of the characters, but they're quite compelling nonetheless.Outtakes contains the same material that you'll have seen on previous releases - two sets of frankly hilarious mock-outtakes and a short documentary where we find out how these came about (and the crew's favourite ones! Added to that is a very tight script, one where every scene serves a purpose and is integral to the movie. Hält zwar nicht mit den großen Disney-Klassikern wie "König der Löwen" mit, aber alles in allem recht unterhaltsam. Throughout DVD Two, most of the different areas include introductory video comments from various filmmakers.

I loved these clips not because they were inherently funny but because they lampooned the insipid nature of "bloopers;" those goofs and flubs have been done to death and they’re rarely amusing anymore. Given blind side-by-side testing you would be able to spot the differences, and much will come down to listening volume and whether your room sounds quite bright, but regardless of choice, it's reference quality all the way.Mastered directly from the digital source, the highlight for anyone who currently owns the original Region 1 edition is that this is released in anamorphic widescreen. The second one is probably the best known: it starts with the Who's "Baba O'Riley" and shows a compendium of scenes from the film.
