About this deal

If Christ is not close to our primary joy in life, how can we go to a place where He is the only joy? We modern Christians may claim that we are ‘in the world, not of it,’ but the truth is that most of us are both in and of it.

Secular media, Christian media, going to church, not going to church, public school, private school, so forth and so on . We must crawl to Him in our brokenness, in our sin, in our despair, in our confusion, in our desperation, and surrender. What Walsh does is show that American Christianity, for the most part, is made up of people that the heathen see as fellows, not enemies to eliminate. The heretics of the past at least had the wit and wherewithal to attack a specific dogma and suggest a different dogma to take it’s place.Given who is likely to choose to read this book, he may be preaching to the choir a bit, but there are messages here that all Christians can stand to hear and reflect upon. We all fall short, and we have all found ourselves staying silent, falling to the theology which worships the god of self. He is the host of The Daily Wire's Matt Walsh Show, where he boldly tackles the tough subjects and speaks out on faith and culture in a way that connects with his generation and beyond. Now I did not always agree on certain points of Walsh’s theology (he’s Roman Catholic and I’m Lutheran), but his cause and conclusion are on point.

Walsh points out that we are all in need of grace and forgiveness, not just the people outside of the church. Churches have allowed the dilution of the Christian message and no longer equip believers to identify and fight evil.Glenn Sunshine of "Why You Think the Way You Do" said in one of his lectures, "We need Christians people want to kill.

He mostly talks a lot about how if he uses the "wrong" pronoun for someone then he is lying about them. But I have already been dragged into the fold, kicking and screaming by you wonderful people (and I will love you all forever for it – my gratitude toward this community is boundless). I was occasionally bothered by his habit of defending his argument by spitting out the references for a bunch of bible verses out of context. He's not entirely wrong, but the only real example of this he gives is another rant about transgender people and how the school system apparently spends a lot of time on that topic. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I admire Walsh for his desire and fearlessness in speaking truth in a world that's going off the rails. Can’t think of who I would recommend this book to, anyone who would want to read it and who wouldn’t be offended by it would already have drawn the same conclusions at Walsh.

A little too detailed for me to stomach, but there is some necessity in acknowledging the depravity that so permeates this world. It's just a bad and slightly dishonest way to defend a position, and relies on people not looking them up. My biggest complaint, and the reason I only gave this book 3 stars, is that Walsh seems a little confused about the essence of the gospel. At least I'm nice to my parents and my friends At least I pay my rent on time and I don't lie, often.Matt Walsh is a powerful voice standing up for the value of religious virtue in today’s increasingly secular culture. Such heresies include the sin of “I’m good enough” or the sadducceal excuse of “at least I’m not like this” fill-in-the-blank sin that you happen to not (usually) commit.
