There’s a noticeable hinge on the back and I just assumed it opened into an empty receptacle much like the Rancor.

Two play options: imaginative children may construct the action toy into a quadcopter or an off-road dune vehicle, then set. They may be used as a version of the same character sometime later, but you’ll never see it represented as just “some car. B: But really, it’s such a great brand that really allows the designer to let loose and be imaginative and creative and wild and crazy and that’s what really drew me into working on the brand and it hasn’t let me down. I don’t hate the car but aside from the color scheme and some minor alterations in shape, there’s nothing remarkable or “character-like” about it. So it’s sort of like a lowrider vehicle that you would expect to be wandering around, just kind of cruising around.

Any Character Car collector will appreciate these for what they are and the evident thoughtfulness that went into them. When given the same attention as a real baby, she produces over 20 different noises, including coos, babbles, and chuckles. Personally I wish the axles were a little stronger and that the wheels were made of some slightly harder plastic, but overall it’s a formula I can’t much complain about.

I will say that I wish this was a little more “skeleton-y,” maybe with something that more closely resembled a skull or ribcage.I really like the 2-tone look of green and aqua, (it’s actually tri-toned with the small strip of dark blue frame taken into account) but the blue seems out of place next to the other vehicles. Assuming I’ll see the Spider again someday I’ll replace him to be be sure, but by the time you read this, I’ll have him patched up. Sometime in the recent past, Hot Wheels added on to the Minecraft subset of Character Cars and gave us The Redstone Monstrosity. But no no no, when it opens, it opens in such a way to create a diagonal ramp where another vehicle can rest – again, like K2, Groot, and Hulkbuster.

It’s got that low key, matte-black finish and the very squarish look of an old ’70’s Cadillac or Lincoln. The cars are all remarkably detailed as well; sometimes (*ahem*Despicable Me*ahem*) it’s easy to see where the designers fell short of inspiration. This looks a lot like the Hot Wheels Original Bone Shaker except a bit more angular to fall in line with the whole “ Minecraft thing. And in the case of Iron Golem and Creeper, there’s a secondary drop element represented in the bed – so the Iron Golem has the Iron Ingot in the bed and the Tulip on the chassis and the Creeper has the Gunpowder in the bed and the Disc on the chassis.

Then there’s the design process; unique designs are drawn up for each character and then are never used again, thereby preserving the character’s “uniqueness. There’s a bit of inconsistency in the set but overall these are solid, distinct, and likable cars…probably even more so depending directly on your level of Minecraft fandom. Marsh didn't ask Bryan if people have engines though, because Marsh is the brains of this operation.
