In 2008, Swedish photographer Sebastian Sardi, inspired by an article exposing hidden mining-related incidents, embarked on a photography journey.

An interesting study that sheds light (literally) onto the many manifestations a shadow can have--a projected figure, concealed emotion, or otherwise. Is it a metaphor for the intimate, darker side of a persons nature, the unconscious side of ones self, where daemons and secrets are kept hidden or repressed? Based on the Eye Mama Project, a photography platform sharing a curated feed by photographers worldwide who identify as mamas, the Eye Mama book brings together more than 150 images to render what is so often invisible―caregiving, mothering, family and the post-motherhood self― visible.

This abundantly illustrated volume imparts a fuller understanding of Tress’s career and the New York photographic scene of the 1960s and 1970s. At home later that evening, I started decoupaging a binder I had bought to become a journal to help myself work through some pretty rough issues.Grant's photographs capture Reeves's shadow at times as a silhouette and at others as traces of light as he and the camera move together.
