For anyone looking for a fresh take on Hades and Persephone, Lore Olympus brings us a sexy and delightful romp that captivates until the very last page. As for the story, well as many others have said and I will reiterate, it was a fantastic modern retelling of the Persephone and Hades myth. The Lore Olympus books are a full-color graphic novel adaptation of the WEBTOON comic by the same name from creator Rachel Smythe. As my friend Al suggested, the art is very reminiscent of Kyle Baker with maybe a little Babs Tarr thrown in. I can highly recommend it to all women I know even if you've never read a graphic novel or don't particularly like romance.
My favorite depiction is Eros as a bubbly bisexual, though the strong-willed, protective best friend vibes from Artemis are equally enjoyable. This edition of Smythe's original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings the Greek pantheon into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel. Beautiful and dramatic, I couldn't put this book down and just had to carry on reading on webtoon after finishing it. I have been following Lore Olympus on WEBTOON for ages and now that I have the first volume in had I couldnt be happier. And I can recommend the book for that itself, this is definitely done through the female gaze which is refreshing. But, I did think it was uniquely terrible (which is also the only unique thing about it, come to think of it). Zeus: Man is so smitten with his wife lmao🤣😭 I love his relationship with Hades and Poseidon 🤣 the trio I didn't knew I needed!

On the plus side, I liked the art and I liked Hades for the most part, and I really liked Hera since she's usually made into a one-note jealous wife in Greek mythology retellings. This is a treat for those who know the stories, but if you are unfamiliar with Greek mythology or only have a basic understanding this book won't make you feel outside of it at all and, if anything, will really welcome you in and be easy to follow.
All in all, I thought this was okay, but I have to admit that I expected more from this because of all the hype it had. The Lore Olympus graphic novels will be available in hardcover and paperback in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom wherever books are sold.
