I can’t wait to listen to more of this narrators work because I felt like she did such a wonderful job in her narrating abilities. After losing her mother at a young age, Macy is navigating her teenage years without a female role model, relying on the time-stamped notes her mother left in her father’s care for guidance. Before the fire that took so much from him and his younger sister (whom he risked his life to save), he was entrenched in society and enjoyed the benefits he wrought as the heir to a dukedom. I loved seeing Kitty and Alexander’s friendship blossom and how they navigated their fake betrothal. But I loved that here Alexander has been impotent during 10 years, and needed to get the right girl to make everything work again.There are elements of Beauty and the Beast in this story from the Duke hidden away in his estate, to the plucky young bride knocking at his door.
