About this deal

During CBeebies broadcasts in the UK, a section of the scene as the three Heelers arrive to the pool is cut.; this is the moment when Bandit asks Bluey if she has brought her thongs. The mosty likely reasons for the cut is due to thongs meaning different items of clothing in the UK (thongs refer to female underwear in British English, unlike how they refer to sandles in Australian English, as the episode intended). Like many young kids these days, our youngest is obsessed with the popular Aussie children’s TV show Bluey. For his recent fourth birthday he ummed and ahhhed between the Women’s Weekly train cake (he’s also obsessed with trains) or a Bluey themed birthday cake. In the end, Bluey won out! Place the sugar, water, cocoa powder and butter into a large saucepan. Bring to the boil, stirring regularly. Once boiled, take from the stove and let it cool down (until you can dip your finger in it). Stir in the bi-carb soda. Tip mixture into a large bowl then gradually beat in SR flour and eggs with an electric mixer, until there are no lumps. Place in a large greased/lined cake tin and bake in 180c fan forced oven for approximately 40 minutes. It is mentioned that Uncle Stripe had gone to Bali, and he had let Bandit and his family use his pool. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or with an electric hand whisk), cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Slowly add the eggs one at a time, scraping down the bowl regularly. Lastly, slowly add the flour in batches along with the vanilla extract, being careful not to over mix the batter.

While playing jump the pool noodle, Bluey's eyes start to sting from the chlorine, but they don’t have the swim goggles either. Bluey wanted to play with the sinking toys, but she forgot them too.Place butter in a small mixing bowl and beat with an electric beater until butter turns white. Gradually add the icing sugar and milk, beating constantly until all mixed together. Mixture should be smooth and easy to spread.

There’s an episode of Bluey where they go to the pool, so instead of a beach themed cake, you could make the Women’s Weekly pool cake, and add Bluey figurines to the top! To make the jelly, bloom gelatine in cold water for 5 minutes and heat your water (or lemonade) to just below simmering. Squeeze the water out of the gelatine and stir this into the hot liquid along with the sugar until dissolved. Allow this to cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until just sloppy. The leaflet that Chilli fans herself with to the beginning of the episode is that of the Chinese Restaurant in Takeaway. This recipe makes one large, delicious rectangle chocolate cake (tin size approx. 38cm x 27cm). If you want to make a regular sized round or square cake, you will need to halve the ingredients and cook for approx. 30-35 minutes. At Play & Go Adelaide we make every effort to provide accurate information to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication. We recommend confirming times, dates and details directly before making any plans as details may be subject to change. Note: Make sure a grown up helps with small pieces, preparation and baking. you will need: for the base Colour your modelling paste in whatever shades you prefer; we used pale blue and grey, but this is your very own cake, so do what makes you happy. We also made some little pool accessories using the modelling paste. It’s a very hot Queensland day and Chilli and the kids are hanging out in the lounge room. Bluey, as is typical of a child, is talking into the fan, and tells Chilli she doesn’t want to brush her teeth as it’s boring. Chilli tells her that "boring things are important too", but Bluey denies it, to which Chilli tells her that she sounds like her father.

We used modelling paste to cover the sides of the cake because it sets a little harder than fondant, making it easier to handle and more resilient. On the car trip over, Bluey complains that Chilli is a "fusspot" as she always makes them do “boring” things.Crush or blitz biscuits until they resemble a fine crumb. Sprinkle onto the cake in the sand section, and around the base of the cake. Once at the pool they realize they’ve forgotten the rashies and sun cream because they also disregarded them for being "boring", so Bandit says they’ll just have to play in the shade. Bluey is fine with this and jumps in but Bingo doesn’t have her floaties, so she has to stay on the step and try to avoid the pool's cleaning device, which she is afraid of. Eventually, the shade over the pool has receded to the point that only the stairs are shaded, and the girls start complaining about being hungry and bored until Bandit calls it a day. Unfortunately, there aren’t any towels so Bluey has to try to shake dry and Bingo refuses to get out of the pool until the cleaning device arrives, which causes her to rush out.
