About this deal

They operate as an ‘elite’ army in Warhammer 40k, meaning they tend to field fewer miniatures than their opponents for the same budget of points, but each model can hope to deal out more punishment to the enemy before it gets blown away. The beating heart of the force, these are Blood Angels as you expect them to be. I used a Horus Heresy-style colour palette for these units. The army is built around a core of Intercessors, with the veterans marked out by gold helmets and ornate shoulder pads taken from Forge World’s Horus Heresy range. Assault Intercessors are the perfect Troops choice unit for players who favour more aggressive strategies (or simply like to charge every enemy in sight!), where they can put their brutal close-range wargear to deadly use. Colin: When I set out to collect my first Space Marines army in 2019, I had no idea that by 2021 it would have sprawled to nearly 12,000 points of Blood Angels.

Though they fight against their cravings, the Blood Angels cannot escape from them, for they are part of their nature. Even the Angelic Sanguinius felt the hunger for blood. In this way their curse is both profane, and sacred to the Blood Angels cult. This army is fighting in Imperium Nihilus, tasked with putting down a rebellion across multiple planets. I focused on collecting and painting Primaris units alongside the speciality units and Characters available only to the Blood Angels. I converted and kitbashed the latter to fit in alongside the larger Primaris Space Marines. The result is a visually congruous collection with four distinct visual themes. If you manage to get your hands on all these options, you’ll have a really nice core for a new Blood Angels army. This should put you in the 2k ballpark and you’ll be able to get some games in. Again, all of these units are good options to have but from here, it’s going to come down to personal preference. You’re going to need to “season” your army to the flavor you like. See what works for you, see what works in your local meta (if you can actually PLAY in stores or with a gaming club) and then adjust. Finally, I essentially have an army within the army – my forward operators in Ossian Suppression pattern desert camo. The seed for this colour scheme was planted when I was looking through the classic Warhammer 40,000 Compendium and saw camouflaged Rhinos and Land Raiders .

Warhammer 40k Blood Angels 9th edition army

Like the Predator is to a Rhino, the design of the Gladiator is based upon that of an Impulsor’s chassis, and has been designed to serve as a front line battle tank rather than a transport vehicle. If you’re looking to shore up your batteline while offering some formidable fire support, a Gladiator will fit the role perfectly! With its twin heavy onslaught gatling cannon and two tempest bolters, the Reaper-pattern Gladiator is the final say in infantry-shredding firepower, making it the perfect choice for facing down enemy hordes. Hive Tyrant (supplied with a Citadel 60mm Round Base, can alternately be assembled as The Swarmlord)

The Blood Angels bear a dark secret, a secret yearning – the Red Thirs t,an insatiable appetite for human blood that tugs on the soulof every marine. Some Blood Angels successor chapters have fallen entirely into depravity, becoming vampiric overlords over cowering mortal subjects. The result? Tense, involved, but straightforward games that can be played in less than an hour.* There’s still plenty of nuance for Warhammer 40,000 experts to enjoy – swapping out Enhancements and Secondary Objectives to mix up their playstyle, and mastering each faction’s Combat Patrol in turn, without having to build up a full Incursion or Strike Force-sized army. If you seek to unleash the Angels of Death in their most destructive form, then Combat Patrol: Blood Angels will provide you with all the units you need to get you started! The contents of this set have been specifically chosen to provide you with an ideal Blood Angels force for Combat Patrol-sized games – approximately 25 Power Level's worth of miniatures.

Vengeance for Sanguinius!

Blood Angels lore is expansive. They werefirst detailed in the second edition Space Marines Codex Angels of Death, and their story has expanded in codexes and some of the best Warhammer 40k books ever since, not to mention comics like Bloodquest, and some of the oldest Warhammer 40k games on computer (anyonereading old enough to remember Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels?) Tzaangor Enlightened – champions of Tzeentch who use their discs to get into combat at incredible speeds. These can also be built as lethal long-ranged Tzaangor Skyfires. Hive Guard (each supplied with a Citadel 50mm Round Base, can alternately be assembled as Tyrant Guards)

Claim all of the biomass in the galaxy for the all powerful Hive Mind with this Broodswarm. It features several units that are ideal for inclusion in any Tyranid force, whether you’re starting a new army or adding to an existing one, all for less than you’d pay getting the models separately. Rules for fielding a Blood Angels 9th editionarmy are found in the Space Marines 9th Edition Warhammer 40k codex and the Blood Angels codex supplement. Basecoat all gold areas with Balthasar Gold, followed by a layer of Gehenna’s Gold. Basecoat the purity seal paper with Rakarth Flesh. Of the 25 miniatures in the Orks Combat Patrol, 24 were brand new on the set’s release, including 20 new Ork Boyz, three Deffkoptas, and a Warboss in mega-armour. The Deff Dread isn’t a new sculpt, but is as shooty and stompy as ever.

The Blood Angels

As I mentioned earlier I would probably look to be including more Incursors in the larger builds of this list alongside some of the other more well known Blood Angel units for flavour such as Mephiston and Death Company. Second, the Combat Patrol versions of each faction’s datasheets army rules are different from their main Index. Datasheets are simpler, and armies have access to different Stratagems, and enhancements. GW has used two methods to attempt to balance the boxes against one another. First, although the models in the box set may have many weapon options, there’s a particular loadout you’re supposed to equip your models with.

Grundstok Gunhaulers – fast airships armed with aethermatic weapons ideal for providing heavy fire support to your forces.Airbrush shadows with VMA Dark Sea Blue, and highlights with White. I use Liquitex Acrylic Ink, as I find it gives me much smoother transitions than any traditional white paint. Blood Angels recruit from the ‘tribes of the Blood’ on the moons of Baal Primus and Baal Secundus, the people who raised Sanguinius. The moons of Baal are irradiated deathworlds, and their populations miserable, prone to mutation and genetic disease. The Blood Angels are artisans of the finest quality, their every accoutrement finely crafted to aesthetic perfection. But you don’t need to go through all that hassle – our resident dice-smiths have done that for you! If you’re inspired to start a brand-new Blood Angels army or are looking to add to an existing one, look no further than the Blood Angels Combat Patrol. As the name implies, this box contains a Combat Patrol-sized army and, if you decide to forgo the included Blood Angels upgrade sprues, the models can easily be used with other Space Marines armies. Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.
