About this deal

stars. I really enjoyed this story once again & I think it might be my favorite of the series. I had been hoping that this would have been released as an audiobook by now… maybe by the third read? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’m not saying, that Ms Coldbreath should stop writing about Karadok, but I wish there was more effort being put in. What was missing in this book was…well a Plot. Then the marriage happened and I loved how it developed in those firts 54%, anger became contempt, that became respect, then understanding, then lust, then love? One of the things that I really enjoyed was that the author really played with the trope of instalove. Aimee fell into instalove without ever having spoken to Konrad; she was simply moved by a gesture of sportsmanship. She was a young girl who was eager to be in love. And once she married Konrad, it didn't work out so well for her at first. He was damaged more than physically, he had walled himself off from the world, and he wasn't interested in an attachment to Aimee. So we saw the more likely result of instalove, or as my grandmother used to say, "marry in haste, repent at leisure." It worked out fine for Konrad and Aimee, but they had to work at it to make it so. And I don’t wanna excuse his behaviour away with saying he didn’t know better or other such idiocies because frankly the man had travelled the country had seen and met all sorts of people and for him to be such a close minded twit at the age of 31, it didn’t compute. published on 2023-06-19T17:00:02Z Humorous Medieval Historical Romance M/F Dialogue Estuary and RP Accents I'm an unabashed Alice Coldbreath fan, and this new Brides of Karadok book didn't disappoint! Yay! It's less Beauty and the Beast and more "no man is an island," with a heavily scarred hero who lost his home and fortune fighting on the wrong side of a war (now 7 or so years in the past) and a wealthy merchant's daughter who falls in love with him when he acts with rare nobility upon a tournament defeat. Hero Konrad makes a few missteps along the way, but it's more because he's clueless rather than cruel, and after hurting the heroine's feelings very badly by awarding the tourney crown, with his usual cynicism, to piss off/unsettle a rival knight, he spends most of the book learning to be more considerate and loving. It's super cute! You must have been unaccustomedly well-behaved that day,” he said sounding vaguely accusatory, “else I would have notice you, to be sure. () You are not a woman to be overlooked.”

Hands down, this is the funniest book by the author. The Marriage scene is great. But, the best things come after marriage. Again, the hate to love to trope mingled with their banter(actually mini duals🤣🤣) are legendary. stars. It‘s no secret that I love Alice Coldbreath’s writing… and therefore, this book was probably my most anticipated of the year. I bought it immediately when I saw that it had been released & I’m happy to say that it didn’t disappoint!

I found Alice Coldbreath last year and finished two of the interconnected series( Vawdrey brothers and Brides of karadoke ) within a week. The series is supposedly based in the Medieval period with the marriage of convenience as the main theme. I like that she writes a lot about everyday details such as clothing, food, beliefs, traditions, events, and everything associated with the lives of general folk of the era. I also adore her heroes, who are grumpy, ill-tempered, and mostly follow the principle of ' I hate everyone but you. Any idealistic dreams of youth Kentigern once had were lost long ago in battle, when he was disfigured and blinded in one eye. His destiny was a cruel one, his homelands confiscated for his part in the Northern uprising, he ekes out a lonely nomadic existence, travelling from one tournament to another.

And the MF keep on coming, I actually switched between MM and MF, but I'm reviewing them all together by gender apparently. 🤣🤣🤣 When she opened her mouth, he threw up his hand. “Do not make your reply. I already know I will not like whatever words tremble on those lips.” There was no plot to this book. It just drudged on, with mundane happenings. Now I know Miss coldbreath can churn out a good plot, just take her book, A bride for the prizefighter as an example, and I also know she can really goes into detail writing about the character’s mundane, day to day lives, and that can be fun too…if there is also a plot, just like there was in a A Bride for the Prizefighter.

published on 2022-06-13T02:03:44Z Life Sentences Historical Fiction, First Person Cork, Ireland, Accent I didn’t mention his treatment of the heroine much because frankly he acted with her the same he acted with everyone except that with her he also manoeuvred her about like she was a doll and her attached head was ornamental. I’d like to start a petition to get some more virgin MMCs out there into circulation. Even better if it’s dual virgins. Give the people what we want !
