About this deal

Das Bildformat ist im langweiligen 4:3 Format auf der DVD. Das ist aber wahrscheinlich auch dem Zeitgeist geschuldet.

or in Jason's time, a golden fleece that promises "the power to heal, bring peace, and rid the land Jason and the Argonauts Blu-ray delivers stunning video and solid audio in this excellent Blu-ray release Hermes bears close watching to figure him out, purely for entertainment value if nothing else. He appears in the film at the beginning as a seer. We see him again when Jason meets Pelias. Watch him closely as he looks at Jason... something is going on there. We find out what later when he reveals himself for who he really is and takes Jason to Olympus. That scene, well, I have to laugh these days because of course, it looks so much like "Beam me up, Scotty!" But this film pre-dated Star Trek by many years... perhaps it inspired it? directors, visual effects artists, and others speaking on how Ray Harryhausen's films influenced their

How can Jason justify stealing the Golden Fleece when he knows it will ruin a presumably innocent kingdom that is prosperous because of it? Well, in some of the myths, Colchis is a corrupt warrior state that was over ambitious and imperialistic. Zeus was displeased with their abuse of the gift of the Fleece and sent Jason to take it away as a punishment. The movie missed a chance to point this out, unfortunately. Hey, more unsolicited personal input. Not having anybody to see this thing with, I took a bus into downtown San Bernardino at age eleven (boy, were those safer days for kids) and sat with my jaw in my lap for the entire show. Talos had me frozen with fear and the Hydra and the skeletons were sights my eyes could not believe. Having seen and loved the Francisi/Bava Hercules movies just a couple of years before, I was primed for something similar, which Jason definitely was not. Ein wirkliches Problem für mich sind die situationsbedingten Handlungsstränge und die daraus resultierenden Dialoge. Man merkt einfach, dass es bei dieser Art von Film mehr um die Vorführung der Spezialeffekte geht. In mythology, the Argonauts encountered Talos on their return journey after they had obtained the Golden Fleece. He was defeated not by Jason, but by Medea casting a spell on Talos, causing him to remove the bronze nail from his ankle which kept the ichor inside. The mythological Talos guarded Crete, not the "Isle of Bronze", and was protecting not a treasure, but Queen Europa. weapons, and stitches in clothing are all wonderfully defined. Colors are stable and handsome, never

Hera, well, what's not to love? She's beautiful as both a Goddess and the Argo's figurehead. She actually beats out Zeus in air time because of this, and the animated figurehead... those amazing eyes! As a kid, and even now as an adult, those eyes capture me every time! Even though the figurehead is a character, somehow with the motion of the eyelids and the eyes themselves, they are captivating. And of course, we see a side of Hera that the myths often don't show. She could be kindly and loving. Refreshing to see that. Fans of the TV show "Hercules" may think of Hera as a vengeful and tempestuous Goddess, but she had a good side as well. She was a popular Goddess in the ancient times because she was the Goddess of the hearth and home, of family and yes, even (Greek)family values. It's nice to see her good nature here. Jason was not betrayed by Acastus in the classical tale. Jason openly told King Aeëtes that he had come for the Fleece. The king promised Jason could have it if he performed three tasks, knowing full well they were impossible. However, Jason was able to complete the tasks with the help of Medea. It was not the Hydra that protected the Fleece but rather a dragon. Jason did not slay it, but instead, Medea cast a spell on it, causing it to fall asleep. Jason sowed the dragon's teeth into the ground, not Aeëtes. Jason defeated the "dragon's offspring" (the spartoi) by making them fight among themselves and destroy each other, rather than battling them with his colleagues. The film, for those who might not know, is about a man named Jason, an explorer searching for a magical tree called the Golden Fleece. Once he finds the tree, he will regain his rightful ownership as the King of Thessaly. But nefarious foes await Jason and his able crew as monsters, both man and magical, are out to stop him before he reaches his destination.

The film ultimately omits the story of Medea killing and butchering her own brother, Absyrtus, to help Jason and the Argonauts escape; [12] and also the episodes with Cyzicus, the Gegeines and the Argonauts' stay on the isle of Lemnos. Todd Armstrong, who plays Jason, is a relatively unknown actor, and from what I have seen, didn't go much beyond this film. Some reviewers say his performance is wooden, but I would disagree. The script doesn't give him many good lines or play up his emotions well, and that's not his fault. What he does bring to the film are some wonderful facial expressions as he delivers those not-so-inspiring lines. It's a pity his career didn't go much further, I saw real potential in him, and I enjoyed him very much as Jason. and the Argonauts' ability to deliver rousing action and adventure that are derivatives of its story For animators (CGI or otherwise), it is a great study in "how to do it". There's a lesson in practically every frame.Moving on, we've got a terrific storyboard collection detailing the classic skeleton fight. There's also an interview segment featuring John Landis ported over from the previous DVD release. There are also two fantastic documentaries: Ray Harryhausen Chronicles and The Harryhausen Legacy (which is narrated by Leonard Nimoy). Both are stunning looks at the career and impact of the stop-motion visual effects master.
