About this deal

The included case and cover is also super light (114 grams or 4 ounces), and it looks great, but an added pouch for the cable would have been valuable. With its long USB-C cable, I wish there was some form of cable management. You won’t be able to tweak its display much beyond brightness or use different display profiles, like you can with the Asus ZenScreen MB16AC, and, unlike the larger and barely heavier Viotek LinQ P16C, there are no speakers. Plus, if you plan to take this on the go often, as is intended, you’ll almost certainly want to buy a replacement carrying case to replace the flimsy one Lenovo includes. Also, the display only works with USB-C (DisplayPort 1.2 over Alt mode); there’s no DisplayLink tech, so some laptops won’t support it. A note also for those who might want to use a portable monitor at home with their desktops when they aren’t traveling: Most desktops or motherboards with USB-C ports do not support alt mode (unless you happen to have a board with Thunderbolt ports). But, if you have a recent Nvidia graphics card with a USB-C VirtualLink port, that port does support alt mode. So you should be able to plug this monitor into your graphics card’s USB-C port for desktop connectivity. Just note that VirtualLink doesn’t make an appearance on Nvidia’s latest 30-series cards. Connectivity is more fleshed-out. While the two DisplayPort-enabled USB-C inputs don’t sound like a lot, having one on each side means you have a choice of where to plug in your laptop or 2-in-1; using the left port, for instance, will prevent the cable getting in the way of right-handed mouse users. The monitor's advertised contrast ratio is 1,500:1; I measured it at 1,231:1, which is obviously less but still among the best we've seen from a mobile display. Most competitors have contrast ratios somewhere between 700:1 and 1,000:1. At Lenovo, we work hard to design computer displays that fit your budget and provide the higher resolution experience you deserve. No more grainy displays with washed out colors. No more boxy, limited visuals.Still, this is brighter than most portable monitors. Their measured brightness tends to cluster in the 180-to-200-nit range. Exceptions are the ThinkVision M14 (280 nits), the ViewSonic VG1655 (245 nits), and the ViewSonic TD1655 (219 nits). This allows for two modes of use. You can show video and other content over the USB connection from a laptop with a compatible USB-C port, and simultaneously power the ThinkVision M14t from the laptop through the same USB-C connection. Alternately, you can plug an optional 65-watt AC power adapter into one of the M14t's USB-C ports to power the monitor; this will let you also charge the laptop when it is connected to the M14t's other USB-C port. Much as we like USB-C, we would like to see at least one other connection type; a lot of portable monitors add a mini-HDMI port, with a cable to connect to the HDMI port on a computer or video source.

I didn’t see any ghosting so didn’t see the need to turn up Over Drive, which increases the screen’s response time. Of the different color modes, I found sRGB the most accurate and pleasant to look at. Battery: These systems do not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorised. Systems will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorised batteries. Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorised batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damage arising out of their use. **Battery life is based on the MobileMark® 2014 methodology and is an estimated maximum. Actual battery life may vary based on many factors, including screen brightness, active applications, features, power management settings, battery age and conditioning, and other customer preferences. Lenovo states that the M14 covers 72 percent of the NTSC color space. The NTSC space was designed for analog TV and has largely been superseded by digital color spaces, but it is still often used as a comparison, and 72 percent NTSC is approximately 100 percent of the sRGB space. In testing, the M14 filled 97 percent of the gamut. In the chromaticity chart below, the area within the triangle represents the sRGB color space, and my data points (the circles) are for the most part evenly placed around it, with the purple and red points indicating a slight expansion of the gamut in those areas. If you activate overdrive on the monitor (through the low blue light button), the ThinkVision M14 will have a 6ms response time. Coupled with a 60 Hz refresh rate, you likely won’t be doing any hardcore competitive gaming here, but it should be able to handle some light gaming. Bottom LineThe best home monitors maximize their real estate, with space-saving designs that don't clutter your bedroom or home office. Our Near-Edgeless infinity screens make the most of your viewing area, so you can take full advantage of the tremendous screen size. We pride ourselves on superb picture quality, with 99% sRGB color gamut on several models. When all these features are available at a competitive price, you simply can’t beat it. Lenovo Legion is taking the PC gaming world by storm with a new and vast array of gaming PCs and gaming accessories. If you want to see every little detail in the moment, so you're prepared for whatever comes your way, look to our Lenovo Legion gaming monitors. Our Legion 4K, HDR, curved and 1ms options offer both visual brilliance and unparalleled response times The M14d has good color gamut coverage for a portable monitor, covering 96.3% of the sRGB space in my testing (see the chromaticity chart above). That's slightly lower than the Asus Strix's 97.7% or the 97% and 97.9% of the Lenovo M14 and M14t respectively, but considerably better than the ViewSonic TD1655's measly 61.1% sRGB coverage. Select models are designed with AMD FreeSync or NVIDIA G-Sync technology to work more seamlessly with your favorite brands of graphics cards. What’s more, select models with 1ms response times minimize stuttering and input lag for a silky smooth gaming experience. Scale new heights of productivity, flexibility, and style with a touch-enabled mobile monitor. The slim and light ThinkVision M14t is a 14-inch Full-HD display that provides you with an extra screen whenever you need it.

You can connect the M14d to a laptop using either the right- or left-side USB-C port, depending on which side of the laptop you want to put the display. You can even connect to an Android smartphone if it has a USB-C port. The ports support both DisplayPort over USB Alternate Mode and USB power delivery, letting you power or charge a laptop connected to the monitor with the latter plugged into a wall outlet. As mentioned, there are two USB-C ports, on each side, and Lenovo advertises this as a way to make it easier to display the monitor to the left or right of your laptop. However, with the included 1m-long USB-C cable, you could probably achieve the same effect even without two USB-C ports. Including an HDMI port instead would have added more versatility by allowing the monitor to easily connect to more device types, like a TV or Raspberry Pi. But with USB-C you can connect the monitor to a tablet or smartphone too. It’s also hard to worry about a 1.6in difference when the M14 is so far ahead on picture quality. This is best demonstrated by its incredible colour accuracy: we measured an average Delta E of just 1.3, on par with professional-grade desktop monitors and drastically superior to the I1601FWUX’s dreadful 6.5.In my well-lit office and with the whole display turned perpendicularly toward me, I could still see my favorite hobbits without interfering glare. This means sharing the screen with a couple of people, perhaps for a presentation, is certainly possible. With the monitor almost flat, it seemed a touch less bright but, as expected, but the movie was still watchable. We have a large selection so you can find the perfect monitor for your needs. And no matter what screen size or image quality you prefer – or even where you intend to use it – Lenovo has all the most popular display sizes, and resolutions. Even if you are on the go Lenovo has portable monitors that attach to your laptop or plug into your laptop and give you a second screen to keep your productivity up.

The Lenovo ThinkVision M14 does almost everything you want a portable monitor to do. It’s very light and folds up for easy portability. But it doesn’t sacrifice a quality stand for a slim form factor. In fact, both its stand and flip-out foot offer strong resistance and firm positioning. The compact, lightweight Lenovo ThinkVision M14 is a winning choice as a mobile monitor for business or personal use. It is well equipped to provide you with a second screen while traveling, and bright and glare-free enough for passable viewing in a variety of challenging lighting environments. This USB-C-only display can be powered from your laptop over the same cable from which it's receiving data or video; additionally, its "power pass-through" design lets you run the M14 and charge your laptop with a single AC adapter. Those two buttons are the extent of the M14's onscreen display (OSD) controls. The HP EliteDisplay S14 has a wider selection of OSD controls, with four buttons letting you change settings such as brightness, contrast, and color mode. (Selections for the latter include Low Blue Light, Night, Reading, HP Enhance+, Multimedia, and Photo.) That said, I didn't find myself fretting over the limited controls when testing the M14.The screen connects to the base with a pair of hinges, which allows for smooth movement and an adjustment range from minus 5 to 90 degrees. This makes it, along with Lenovo's earlier ThinkVision M14, one of the few portable monitors to have a built-in, adjustable stand, rather than a folding case/screen cover that doubles as a stand. When the screen is at right angles to the base, you can even rotate it into portrait mode, and the base will prop it upright. An added convenience is an adjustable riser at the front of the base that lets you fine tune the height and set the screen at the same level as your laptop's screen. For office life, you need a professional monitor with sound color accuracy and high resolutions. Often, companies rely on intense data and graphics applications to get work done, so your monitor needs to be able to handle those tasks.
