About this deal

The trigger for the second module I designed in SketchUp and 3D printed using a Makerbot Replicator (which I have access to through work). It's basically a little house with a roof and flexible walls that encloses the sound module. When the door opens, it depresses the roof into the switch through an inverted "chimney".

After that, we built the two double width and one single width BILLY bookcases. We underpinned the base of one of the double width bookcase with wooden struts as it would be walked through. You can omit the base of the BILLY bookcase completely to avoid the step up threshold but we left it in. We didn’t want light streaming through from under the bookshelf doors and spoil the illusion of the bookcase. At Runners, we offer a wide range of sliding concealed door gear and invisible door systems that can be used in a variety of different scenarios. Whether talking about industrial overhead runway systems designed specifically for manufacturing plants or sliding door gear for city offices, hotels, or residential premises, we’ve absolutely got you covered.A frame around the BILLY bookcases was then built out of scrap wood from a partition wall we demolished in another room. We added plasterboard panels to this. We’ve not quite finished this bit, we have to add the picture rail and paint the plaster. Total width of the inside dimensions of the jamb is the size listed on you door option (IE: 30" door is 30" inside to inside of the jamb).

For maximum stealthiness, I was keen to make the bookcase blend in with the rest of our furniture. The plan was simple: I would mimic the design and finish of our existing solid wood bookshelves as best I could, while adopting the hardware kit sold by the Murphy Door company, which is designed to support a door weighing up to 300 lbs. All pieces of this kit arrive primed allowing you to paint your secret, hidden door any color your want. and 5: Rip all of these into boards 185 mm (7 1/4") wide. From these 6 long boards, cut 18 pieces 718 mm (28 1/4") long. 12 of these are adjustable shelves, and will probably need to be shortened slightly so that they fit easily (only by a mm or so). I also did some subtle decorative routing on the edges of these 12 boards, and it is easier to do that *before* you cut them to length. We’re really pleased with the results. Our secret bookcase door blends perfectly with the rest of the room, though I might change the knobs later. As any murder mystery fan knows, secret rooms and hidden passageways are the best hiding places. They're prime real estate for stowing valuable treasures or concealing top-secret meeting rooms. But they aren't reserved for sneaky detectives. To conceal a hallway bathroom—and, yes, appeal to her client's love of period dramas—designer Lynn Kloythanomsup of Landed Interiors and Home recently installed a Murphy Door in a San Francisco home.

Murphy went on to marry his sweetheart, and America fell just as hard for his invention. They’re the perfect solution for those of us with tiny houses or the need for small space ideas, offering a place for overnight guests to sleep that doesn’t take up precious floor space (especially if you don't have a guest room but just a home office, for example). We would like to tell you about the sleek and modern door hardware in our range which is called the invisible door system. Offering a smooth and effortless glide whilst giving the impression that the door is floating on air, it’s one of the most popular items in our range for a number of reasons.
