In Izzy's hometown of Bridlewood, Sunny and her friends acquire the Unicorn Crystal from Alphabittle, but nothing happens when the two crystals are joined together. Returning to Maretime Bay in despair, Sunny discovers the existence of a third crystal among her father's old belongings, and in her efforts to rejoin her friends, she gets swept up in a destructive plot to wage war against unicorns and Pegasi orchestrated by Hitch's overzealous deputy Sprout. While she does not wearing any clothing, Sunny's only accessory is that of a teal sachet, which features Twilight Sparkle's embossed cutie mark on one side. Its strap features pins of Twilight, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's cutie marks on it. In IDW Endless Summer - My Little Pony, Sunny is saddened over the end of summer drawing near, mostly due to all the good memories of her father associated with the season. Her friends help her see that fall has lots of fun activities too, and that while they can't replace her father, they can help her keep his memory alive.

Pony Tattoos Izzy, Zipp, and Pipp have run to Maretime Bay in search of Sunny and Hitch, not wanting to be apart. Mistaken for Spies: After getting the ring, Rainbow Dash assumes that Twilight is secretly working for Nightmare Moon due to how she was asking around town (and was the only one who knew Nightmare Moon by name before she introduced herself) and immediately tries to kill her. In Father of the Bridlewood, Izzy, along with Sunny and Zipp, bring the unicorn Elder Flower to Zephyr Heights, in return for learning more about Equestria's past. In Mane Smelody, Misty helps Pipp with the stink created by the flowers in her new mane polish by adding some better-smelling flowers to the mix. In Nightmare on Mane Street, Misty helps decorate the Brighthouse for Nightmare Night. She is also present when Sparky's fire reveals a map to the Isle of Scaly. In Issue #11, Sunny aids Pipp in regaining followers by attempting to summon a vengeful spirit, and is unnerved when strange things start happening afterwards. In Issue #13, Sunny and her friends take part in the annual Maretime Bay Beachside Bake-Off. While they initially have trouble deciding on a recipe, they ultimately work together by combining ingredients that each one likes, with raisins being Sunny's contribution. In Issue #14, Sunny meets Violette Rainbow, and shows her a book detailing a race of ponies known as "Painted Ponies", who had similar coats to Violette's.
