About this deal

The operating temperature shows the safe temperature range (from minimum to maximum), within which the display will function flawlessly. Outside this range it might operate improperly and/or fail entirely. Of course, our advice would be to partner any new TV with a separate sound solution, which makes the TV’s own sound less relevant. The Dynamic Tone Mapping is playing a part here, adding dynamic metadata to the HDR10 signal. Certainly there’s a drop in punch and vibrancy with that setting switched off. But the LG C8, like last year’s models, also supports true dynamic metadata via Dolby Vision, and in most cases this results in even greater contrast and colours. We’ve compared Samsung’s premium Q9FN range to LG’s C8 series, and there isn’t much between them. The C8 just edges it due to the TV’s more rounded performance, but the there truly isn’t much in it. Opt for either range and you won’t be disappointed. Smart TV: For den nemmeste adgang til begrænset indhold bringer LG Smart TV det bedste fra internettet direkte til dit fjernsyn. A less scientific approach: my week with the LG C8 OLED had me perform consistently better than my week with the Sony AF8.As an example, the object-based contrast enhancement and adaptive colour features are both only activated when you select the Vivid mode but, having spent a lot of time using and tweaking this preset, I’ve had to conclude that it’s rather rubbish. In fact, the E8 suffers the same fate as last year’s OLED65G7V, which featured a built-in sound system that couldn’t justify its premium price over the alternative of buying a similar TV and a separate soundbar. The WebOS smart platform remains the best available and the choice of streaming services is second to none. Once you add the gorgeous design and a comprehensive set of features, you have one of the most complete TVs that we’ve ever reviewed.

The C8 still can’t match Samsung’s Q9FN QLED for brightness and vibrancy, but for an OLED it’s exceptionally punchy – more so than the Sony A1 and Philips 55POS9002, in fact – and the way it combines that with subtlety and realism makes the feat all the more impressive. The scene in Guardians Of The Galaxy where we first meet the ‘adult’ Peter Quill offers a superb opportunity to hear what the LG’s speakers can do. When spending good money on a TV of this quality, we would always recommend buying some kind of external sound system, but if that’s not possible, LG hasn’t left you high and dry.

You work at BID, what a legend.

The level of detail is also often astonishing, and when watching native 4K productions like Passengers, The Revenant or the BBC’s Planet Earth II, the C8 takes full advantage of its Ultra HD panel to deliver every pixel. The colors are equally as impressive, popping off the screen and delivering images that are often jaw-dropping. The storage temperature shows the range from a minimum to a maximum temperature, within which storing of the display is considered to be safe. While the OLED panel technology remains largely consistent between models, the main differences relate to aesthetics and speaker set-up. The stand designs vary between models with some using built-in speakers and others using a separate soundbar to handle audio.

This TV does virtually everything right, but its biggest concern is its similarly priced LED LCD rival, the Samsung Q9FN. This offers a higher dynamic range and is more suited for bright-room viewing. It’s a tough choice, so let’s find out which model comes out on top. LG TV can recognise major High Dynamic Range formats such as HLG, HDR 10, Dolby Vision™ and Technicolor. So you get the HDR experience, no matter what HDR entertainment you're enjoying.Virtually all manufacturers source the basic OLED panels from LG Display, but this doesn’t mean all OLED TVs look alike. Manufacturers design their own models and build their own internals, including picture processing engines and speakers, which deliver variances in picture quality from set to set.
