About this deal

The Rolling Transporter is built with Osprey’s HighRoad™ chassis, which will keep rolling through rough terrain thanks to the ABS polymer materials and extra-large polyurethane wheels. The Rolling Transporter 60 is suited for the traveller who requires one bag to do it all, no matter if it's an adventure on a plane, train, van, or road trip. Weight: 3.85 kgMaximum Dimensions (cm): 97 (l) x 57 (w) x 38 (d)Main Fabric: 840D Nylon TPU Double Coated Where to Buy the Osprey 120 Transporter One other thing. The handles for carrying (rather than wheeling) are just what you need. Sturdy, soft, strong. They could be the Andrex puppy advert of suitcase handles.

If you're familiar with Osprey's lineup of products, you'll know the already brilliant Transporter Duffel has been a staple product in most outdoor-enthusiasts kit cupboards for years. The Rolling Transporter, as you've probably guessed, adds some useful wheels for easy mobility! While I was making this tough emotional transition ( Who was I? What did this mean? What had I become?!) I dabbled with a hybrid. Looking for a big versatile wheelie bag that is designed for air travel as well as serious road trips? Then read this Osprey Rolling Transporter 120 review as it may well be the bag for you. The Osprey Transporter 120 promises to be the adventure-proof wheelie or best family size rolling duffel bag. Here, we put it to the test. Read on for the full Osprey Transporter 120 review. The Osprey Transporter 120 Review Argh! It’s the conundrum that never ends! (Dear readers, I’m only joking. I have a perspective on what really matters in life and I understand that it isn’t this.)The Transporter uses an ultra-tough 840D Nylon with a double-coated layer of TPU; this offers exceptional durability and weather resistance, keeping your kit dry and safe. The Transporter has also proved very weatherproof. Although the seams aren’t taped or sealed, there is a reinforcement strip over each seam which adds some additional protection (and reinforcement too). The double TPU coating and DWR outer coating also offers excellent protection across the main fabric.

It’s basically a giant duffle bag on wheels – beautiful in its simplicity. But there’s so much more to the Rolling Transporter than meets the eye. It’s constructed using a durable and water-resistant laminated nylon fabric (if you’re heading to Bali, man it can pour, so you’ll need it) which makes the Osprey Rolling Transporter 120 one tough not-so-little cookie. The retractable ErgoGrip™ handle is extremely practical, ensuring you can transport the bag with ease no matter how heavy the contents are. The interior of Rolling Transporter bags contain all features travellers need on the road, such as secure zip fastening, internal compression straps and separate compartments for accessories and valuables. First of all, I like the massive size. There’s a range of options (40, 90 and 120 litres) but when travelling with family, especially when glamping, size is great. There’s extra bedding, slings, sheets, towels, nappies and all sorts that even the luxest glamping establishment doesn’t provide.

What Other Duffel Bag Should You Consider?

polyester with phthalate-free PVC coating (body), additional layer of 840D recycled ballistics nylon with a non-PFC DWR finish (bottom) After taking my old, battered and memory-filled suitcase to the tip, it was time for an upgrade and Osprey had just introduced their new Rolling Transporter range, which caught my eye. In particular, the striking Kingfisher Blue 120. Inside, a series of clips help secure your belongings for you strange people who somehow don’t fill it already. On the outside, another couple of clips secure things further so it’s all pretty snug. After applying myself to a strict suitcase diet for a number of years (as enforced by the management/husband) it was time to dabble again. No duffel of this type will be waterproof (the zip alone is a key water access point), but it should hold off a fair amount of weather. On a recent ski trip it survived being transported through a snow storm and was even sat in the snow for a while while waiting for transport. There was no moisture ingress. If that’s a concern I tend to make sure the contents are individually protected in dry bags anyway. Out of interest, if you do need a waterproof duffel Osprey have now added these to their range. Details on these models can be found here. Organisation

Plus, a hard-shelled wheelie is OK until you have trouble trying to get into it. You need a wide open space (that’s preferably clean.) It’s so undignified to be scrabbling around on the airport floor dealing with a wheelie. As my Osprey Transporter 120 Duffel Review highlights, this is a truly excellent large load hauler. It will serve you extremely well for endless journeys and become an indispensable companion. It will also come to reflect your life of travel and adventure. At 3.85 kg, this is certainly not an ultra light bag but if you want the wheels, that’s usually the price you have to pay. Specification But you know what? Wheels aren’t perfect. Wheels don’t cover everything and I still haven’t given up my quest to find the perfect bag.

Second, it’s easy to get to your stuff. There’s a giant, zippable entrance point with no clamshell problems. All Rolling Transporter bags are ultra-durable and come with a HighRoad™ chassis, extra-large all-terrain polyurethane wheels and a sturdy, highly water-repellent TPU laminated nylon fabric body to protect your belongings from the elements. The duffel barrel style shape means that you can fit a hell of a lot of luggage in it – 120 Litres worth to be precise! But, the design is pleasing enough to be used as a suitcase. The wheels and high Osprey HighRoad™ chassis promise you can wheel across stones without damaging or soaking your kit. This works well on cobbles and uneven ground but does struggle a little when the going gets really uneven or muddy. Except. After a while (three weeks on the road, in fact, zig zagging the former iron curtain for my Iron Route project from Istanbul to Berlin) I realised one simple fact.Things you may need at the airport (like a swiss army knife to cut through the plastic protective tags when heading somewhere where theft is high risk) Still, it rolls far, far better than a usual wheelie suitcase, though, and everything, eventually, has limits. The extra large polyurethane wheels combined with a chassis made from ABS polymer materials makes sure it can handle any terrain without problem (I know, that last part sounds like a sound bite from a Land Rover advert!). The bag can easily be wheeled around with a sturdy retractable handle. Osprey Rolling Transporter 120: Features The Rolling Transporter features a low-profile padded carry handle and an extendable ErgoGrip™ handle for comfortable carry and efficient wheeling even with the heaviest of loads.
