About this deal

From there, the core story structure was born: two ships separated not by history, but by different views on what it means to be a pirate on the Sea of Thieves, finding themselves on opposing sides as a result. For the crew that would stand against Flameheart, I was drawn to Eli Slate and the crew of the Morningstar – firstly because we’d glimpsed them briefly during the Tall Tales, but secondly because Slate is a very different kind of captain to Ramsey, and I thought he’d make a good foil for Flameheart.

In the present day, Larinna, an ambitious stowaway determined to leave her mark on history, joins forces with a wild and adventurous captain seeking the greatest treasure ever buried. The pulse-pounding origin story of Captain Flameheart, sure to delight new and veteran players of Rare’s thrilling game Sea of Thieves in this official prequel novel. I enjoyed this book so much due to the amazing writing and fantastic storytelling. My favorite characters are definitely Edmond and Flameheart but I also enjoy Ellie Slate and Harry Harkly's rivalry Ramsey Singh, also known as the Pirate Lord, was a successful pirate in his prime. Like most sailors of the era, Ramsey knew well of the ominous crimson mists sitting in the Caribbean known as the Devil’s Shroud. Despite rumors and theories of what may lie through the fog, Ramsey happily left it a mystery until meeting another pirate named Mercia who had a resolve to figure out how the Shroud worked. Ramsey had the Magpie’s Wing commissioned and himself, Mercia, Rathbone and Shan braved the trip into the Devil’s Shroud on a days-long journey before making land at present-day Thieves’ Haven. The good news is that Athena's Fortune at least fits with what established story there is in the game reasonably well. Alternating chapters between the perspectives of Ramsey and Larinna, characters players could potentially be familiar with, we get to learn the tale of Ramsey's founding of Athena's Fortune and the early history of the Sea of Thieves. We also get Larinna's perspective as a new denizen of the Sea of Thieves with an arc more reminiscent of what players experience. This article is a stub. You can help Sea of Thieves Wiki by expanding it. Tales from the Sea of Thieves Just as Mercia set a course for Devil’s Ridge, so must you. There is a cannon on the North side of the island on the middle level. You will find Mercia’s third journal just to the left of that cannon. That story charted the adventures of two crews separated by history, shining a light on the first days of the Sea of Thieves as seen through the eyes of Ramsey – or the Pirate Lord, as he’s more commonly known today – and providing context and lore for the plunder and places you experience yourself when exploring, like Cursed Chests and the fabled Shores of Gold. However, like Devil’s Ridge, Thieves’ Haven is huge! Who knows how long it might take to find a little journal!? Never ye fear!

The Athena's Fortune was named after Ramsey's wife who he left behind to pursue a life on the seas. Ramsey's story is the highlight -- while avoiding spoilers, I'll just note that he becomes important and his story ties in to the comic book series as well. The only good additional lore between the comics and Athena's Fortune is the look at how people journey to the Sea of Thieves and what those first few moments once they arrive are like. We get more of that here, as Ramsey actually starts in the world outside the Sea of Thieves, makes his journey over, and witnesses the birth of the Pirate Lord, Gold Hoarder, and the Sea of Thieves as we know it today. Game mechanics are explained in-universe, and my understanding of the world is a bit richer for having read it. However, I'd wager the story is so insubstantial and poorly told in Sea of Thieves that most players don't know or care who the Pirate Lord and Gold Hoarder are in the game. So your enjoyment will depend on if you've somehow convinced yourself to care about the story. Comics are really good, they're from DeMarco and Lesedi's perspectives, and shows how and why they rival eachother so much, trying to make their father proud by being the first to find the treasure that he hid for his 2 children. The name of Graymarrow and Briggsy's ships were The Twisted Horn and The Homeward Dove respectively. The Captain's Logbook records a number of statistics for the ship and Captain's entire history, as well as the ship's current play session. Hey, I just recently started playing the game for the anniversary update, and I’m loving it so far! I tend to be the kind of geek who obsesses over the continuity and lore of the fictional things I’m a fan of, so I was wondering a few things about the “Expanded Universe” of Sea of Thieves:

The Art of Sea of Thieves book clearly would be canonical if it discusses any information pertinent to the game’s lore at all, since it comes directly from Rare themselves, but does any such information exist in the book, or is it all only real-world behind-the-scenes and developmental information? This journal is located on your journey’s first destination: the Uncharted Island at N13. If you are completing the Tall Tale, you must go to this island to find the Magpie’s Wing Ship’s Log anyway. Two birds, one cannonball! The easiest way to find this journal is likely to go to the top of the North spire. Staying on that North spire, make your spiraling way downward into the caves. You only need to go down one level. To get a more precise location—often helpful if you’ve found yourself in fog—you can take a look at the marker on your interactive SoT map: Shroudbreaker Journal #1 on the Uncharted Island. The Location for Shroudbreaker Journal #2: While the writing didn't blow me away and a lot of what happens might feel downright goofy to some readers, I had so much fun spending time in this world and getting to learn more about the history of it! It was fascinating, learning the origins behind so many in-game things, like the gold curse or Athena's loot.
