About this deal

Boehringer Ingelheim is a research-driven group of companies dedicated to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of innovative health care products. Section Overview

To protect against worms, you need a quality worming treatment. You also need to clean bowls regularly using a pet-safe disinfectant, dispose of faeces correctly and keep sleeping areas clean too. Tapeworms are spread via fleas, flea eggs and infected faeces. They are mostly found in older cats (unless a kitten has fleas). Treatment against roundworm and tapeworms should be used, to ensure there are no traces of either. Something which fights Dipylidium caninum should also be used on kittens who have fleas. Will cat wormer kill tapeworms? If for some reason you are unsure if the product was administered correctly or whether all of it was applied, it is usually safest to not apply an additional dose. Bathing. Baths are a common go-to, especially when live fleas are seen. However, while waterproof, Frontline products need 24 hours to spread throughout the oils on the skin. Bathing shortly before or after application removes oils from the skin as well as possibly the product itself. Not Treating Year-Round. Fleas have been known to over-winter indoors. Treating pets for only certain months of the year can leave open gaps in prevention for infestations to occur. In the UK, there are eight types of common feline intestinal worms. Most can be grouped as either tapeworm or roundworm.

However, if you want to prevent worms from occurring, ensure you buy a medication which can do this. The best frequency is around every three months, but this may need to be more regular for any cats who pretty much live outdoors.

Frontline for Cats Dosage

While the original Frontline could only kill adult fleas and did not treat all life stages of the flea, Frontline Plus includes the addition of (S)-methoprene, which is an insect growth regulator that additionally targets flea eggs and flea larvae, helping to interrupt the life cycle and prevent new adults from hatching and developing.

Roundworms (also called ascarids) are cylindrical – like spaghetti – and can be up to 15 cm long inside dogs. In this article, you’ll learn about the different Frontline products available for cats, the ingredients they contain, what types of parasitic pests they target, possible side effects to consider, and some frequently asked questions.
