The adjustable thermostat allows you to set the temperature anywhere between12 and 28 degrees Celsius using the dial. The 50W heater is more powerful than the heater found on most other heated propagators. This is ideal for plants that require a specific temperature to germinate. Some smaller units have individual ‘cells’ for each pot so you don’t have as much free range with how many different seeds you can plant at a time. Ensure you water your seedlings but do not flood the seedlings as the water may affect the electric circuit of the propagator.

Please note that the right to return goods which are not faulty does not apply to any goods which have been made to your own specifications.Scottish Highlands, Islands & Remote include the following Post Codes: IV, HS, KA27-28, KW, PA20-49, PA60-78, PH17- 26, PH30-44, PH49-50, PO31-41, ZE. Think also of the size the seedlings need to grow to before you can transplant them. Some may grow to be quite tall, and so look for propagators with extra headroom. Inside/outside Having an idea about the length of the propagator’s mains cable before purchasing is also a good plan. Some propagators have short cables of 1 m, whilst others are slightly longer at between 2 and 3 m. Depending on where you have a power outlet, either in the house or greenhouse, you may have to use an extension cable. Lid Height for Better Growth The clear lid has two vents to open or close to control the temperature and humidity inside as your plants need. Large, one-cell units that measure around 52 x 45 cm can be used to try to germinate around 140 seeds. They’re often big enough to fit 2 x 24-pot seed trays, and if you get 3 seeds in each pot, this can mean the potential to plant 144 seeds.

This model has an internal water reservoir and on top of this, there is a lining of capillary matting that attracts the water. The seed tray sits on top of this and the plants then draw water from the capillary matting as and when needed. As long as there is water in the tray, the plants can’t over or underwater themselves. This depends on the plants you are trying to grow and the region that you are in. Some seeds require certain temperatures to germinate. Given the cold British weather, a heated propagator would be of service to you all year-round and can speed up the amount of time it takes for seeds to germinate and also the success rate. For example, peppers often germinate at a much faster rate in a heated propagator. For example, the Garland Super 7 Propagator is one of the best heated electric propagators for catering to different seeds; it has seven different pods and each one has its own ventilation. These type of set up allows you to keep some seeds cooler than others, all whilst using the same propagator.

Vent in the lid of each mini-propagator lets you set the environment for each type of seedling individually. The Garland Fab4 Electric Heated Propagator is a great option for those requiring a little more warmth as it boosts the soil temperature by up to 10°C. It’s slightly warmer than others on the market, producing good results especially for seeds that require a hotter climate. Unlike others I’ve mentioned, there’s no need to place it in a sunny spot.
