This Is How It Feels’, released in 1990, is the jewel in the Manchester band’s crown and the ultimate club night closer. [9] In March 1989, the band decided to form their own label called Cow Records, and then released the “Trainsurfing EP”, from this EP they released a handful of singles, with the song “Move” just missing the UK top 40. They signed a record deal with Mute Records and had their first top 40 success with “This is How it Feels”, which reached number 14 in the singles chart. It was part of their debut album “Life” which made it to number 2 in the album chart in 1990.

[ citation needed] Hingley formed a new band, the Lovers, along with Jerry Kelly of the Lotus Eaters (which later featured Steve and Paul Hanley of the Fall), while Boon formed the Clint Boon Experience, releasing a string of singles on the Artful label. [2] Gill also formed a new band, Hustler, who eventually changed their name to Proud Mary after a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival. [ citation needed] Proud Mary signed to Noel Gallagher's Big Brother label some years later, while Walsh moved into production, largely working on techno and dance music.
