About this deal

Paddy is a recent addition to our guide – this 12th position was been previously held by Yellowspot for several years. Visitors to the Kilbeggan Distillery Experience will learn about the traditional methods of mashing in oak mash tuns, fermenting in Oregon pine vats, and will see the new Kilbeggan malt spirit flowing from ancient pot stills. The original waterwheel which once powered the whole distillery is still on show today.

The first new distillery in Dublin for 125 years, the Teeling Whiskey Distillery is only a stone’s throw from where the original family distillery stood.Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. The closure was the result of many contributing factors. The distillery had endured decades of difficulties due to prohibition in America, the economic depression of the 1920s and 30s, trade war with the British Empire, the Irish war of Independence and two world wars. On the wild north coast of Ireland, the Bushmills Distillery has stood proud for over 400 years and it is one of the oldest of the many whiskey distilleries in Ireland.

Ireland also has its own local version of "moonshine," an unaged whiskey called potcheen (also spelled poitín or poteen). Because it's not aged for three years, it can’t legally have “Irish whiskey” on the label, but it is another type of whiskey made in Ireland. Housed in a beautiful green bottle, Connemara was inspired by the 18th-century art of drying malting barley over peat fires. It is now the only Irish Peated Single Malt Whiskey widely available. The flavor brings a honeyed, malty aspect out in the sweetness, and adds a peppery, woody note that is just a tad astringent. The finish is a light, short one, and continues on that dry, woody note. Located in the town of Kilbeggan, on the Brosna River, Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland. It was established in 1757, when Matthew MacManus obtained a license to produce whiskey. At the time of our visit we paid €15 for the tour, which included the whiskey tasting. You also get to take one of the little tasting glasses home as a souvenir of your visit.

Named after historic Knappogue Castle ( built in 1467) in County Clare, Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey is a brand of premium single malt Irish whiskey.a b c d e MacGuire, Edward B., Auteur. (1973). Noted devotees of the distillery's whiskeys include British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, and Myles na gCopaleen, the Irish playwright. [2] History [ edit ] Early years [ edit ] The important thing to know is that Kilbeggan is making a few really great products these days. Almost more notably, they are using the oldest (180+ year old) copper pot still in operation. As I write this I’m sipping on whiskey from the oldest operating pot still, which I think is just awesome! Here we have their Single Pot Still expression, which is influenced from the late 1800’s in its mash bill. They are using about 2.5% oats, which doesn’t sound like a lot but it has a nice impact.
