About this deal

Add milk. Pour the cereal milk into the frosting one tablespoon at a time, mixing well in between each addition until you reach your desired consistency ( I used 6 tablespoons).

Add flour. Slowly add 3 cups of flour, mixing until just combined, and then stir in 2 cups of cereal marshmallows. Step 2. This is optional, but I like adding marshmallows on top of the bars once they are in the pan to show off their shapes and colors. So pull out about a ¼ cup of marshmallows from the cereal. Add eggs. Add the 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well between each addition, stopping to scrape down the bowl as necessary. Marshmallows - use mini or regular marshmallows - they both melt the same, and they both come in 10-ounce bags. Use fresh ingredients. This isn’t the time to use that stale bag of marshmallows or old cereal in your pantry—stale ingredients = stale bars. This is the perfect easy dessert to enlist the kids' help with since it's such an easy recipe. It's fun for the whole family! Top– After the cake has baked, immediately top it with 4 cups of mini marshmallows. Return the pan to the oven and bake an additional 3 minutes. You can make this no bake treat with only 3 simple ingredients that you can find in any grocery store. DO NOT COMPACT | Unless you want really hard Cereal bars, do not press down too hard when pressing into your pan.

Use cookie cutters to make different shapes other than just squares or rectangles. To get the best shapes, you may want to put the marshmallow and cereal mixture into two 9 x 13 pans because it will be thinner. I was nervous to let them near the stovetop and get them involved, but ever since I have let them help (with certain things that don’t splatter, etc), they have been much more responsible in the kitchen. If desired, you can chill your cookie dough for an hour before baking. This will reduce how much they spread. Use the Right Pan. To make these I used a 9×13 inch pan, but if you like your treats taller I recommend using a 9 or 8-inch square pan. FRESH TIP | Use a pot large enough to be able to stir the cereal in after all of the melting. Brown the butter in a large pot Add marshmallows and stir until mostly melted

Scoop. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet using a measuring spoon or cookie scoop. Marshmallows. 9 cups of mini marshmallows are needed for today’s gooey recipe! (swap this out for homemade marshmallows instead) Tip: Do not press down too hard or too much or the bars will end up hard. Just press down lightly until they are in an even layer! Don’t Fret– If there are a few marshmallow peeking out of the cereal bars, don’t worry. It happens to the best of us and they wills till taste equally delicious!

Did you know there are eight different marshmallows that are called Marbits? Which is your favorite, shooting stars, clovers, hearts, moons, unicorns, rainbows, horseshoes, or red balloons? For me, it's gotta be the rainbow! Melting Chocolate: I used white chocolate candy coating (may also be known as almond bark or melting wafers), but you could try using white chocolate chips also. The flavor on the one I used was great and not waxy at all. Serve: These marshmallow cereal bars are best at room temperature. To keep them fresh and crispy, do not refrigerate these bars or keep in a cooler for more than a couple hours.

Christmas Cookie Recipes

Fresh marshmallow treats are always best! Though, it’s always inevitable that there’s a few leftover. No worries! Just store them in an airtight container and leave at room temperature for 2-3 days. Store. Transfer leftover cereal bars to an airtight container or bag and store at room temperature 4-5 days. They’ll stay even more fresh if you individually wrap the squares in plastic wrap first! Cream the butter. Use your stand mixer to cream 1 cup of butter on medium speed until light and creamy. Then, slowly add in 5 cups of confectioners' sugar until fully incorporated. Marshmallows: I prefer to use large (regular) marshmallows rather than mini marshmallows as I think that they melt better, but mini marshmallows will also work fine.

Do NOT over cook your marshmallows! This is so important. If the marshmallows are over-cooked, they will result in a hard/unpleasant bar. We recommend that you take the marshmallows off the heat as soon as the almost all of the marshmallows are melted. If you still see 2 or 3 marshmallows that aren’t melted, that’s okay! Go ahead and take it off the heat. Be sure to use the photos in the post above as a reference! Salted Butter - If you love the combination of sweet and salty, use salted butter or add in a bit of kosher salt when you melt the marshmallows. Store these cereal bars at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you want them to last longer, store them in the fridge for up to 10 days.Line an 8×8 or 9×9 inch square pan with parchment paper for easiest clean up, or butter the pan well. Be careful to not over-mix! I know it sounds a bit silly, but you really only need to mix until the cereal is combined with the melted marshmallows. If you keep mixing, you may risk breaking the cereal and/or allowing the marshmallows to cool too much.
