About this deal

For many years now, the highly popular Orient ‘Bambino’ has been arguably the go-to entry-level automatic watch. When pressed in, the crown does nothing. When pulled to first position, you can adjust the date. When pulled to second position, you can adjust the time. Unless what's stated on the dial is blatantly lying to me (which I doubt,) I do believe the automatic movement is truly Japanese. I don't know if this means the movement was made in Japan or designed in Japan and constructed elsewhere like Thailand or Indonesia. Not a clue. All I know is that the dial states it's a Japan movement.

I think they're really good watches for the price, designed for low maintenance and anyone who likes small dress watches should try one. They have their charm, but also they have their flaws. If you're used to higher WR rated watches maybe another automatic could be a better starter watch. If you're okay with the flaws the Orient 3 Star is a very unique and nice little watch. It is a good starter automatic watch if you were used to take off watches before shower and don't use them at pool, etc. As a secondary watch or if you already have a collection of watches they're always a nice addition.

They chose to highlight the beautiful green dial with a thin polished steel bezel surrounding the crystal. This little pop of polished metal reflects the light and nicely compliments the shiny gold colored hour markers without being overly flashy or unsightly.

The bracelet is perhaps the weak point of the Orient Tristar, as despite being made of stainless steel, it is not of the best quality. The ranges established by the brands should be understood more as a classification, indicating the maximum acceptable deviation for each mechanism. I was however a bit annoyed at first with the low 30 meters WR resistance of the 3 star. I am used to wear WR100 meters rated Casios, Vostoks Amphibia (200 meters WR) and other high WR rated watches that I can leave on the wirst at shower and at the swimming pool. That is not the case, you have to remove the watch before to take a shower or to swim. The case is constructed of a stainless steel alloy to help ensure its durability and long life. It features a combination of polished and brushed surfaces (mostly brushed) which gives the watch a little personality (even though it’s Orient’s budget option). Orient could have easily made the entire case either polished or brushed to save time and money but they went a step above and gave it some character. Their new watches would be as affordable as the new quartz watches that were conquering the market and would not have the additional cost of having to change the battery periodically.

Automatic watches can be a bit annoying if you switch them frecuently, if you wear the watch a lot it is not much an incovenience. Unless you're very sedentary, is unlikely that the watch would stop over nightime if you wear it at least 7-8 hours during the day. Accuracy of automatics is far worse than with a normal quality quartz, but just readjusting time each 1-2 weeks is ok. They could have chosen to make it entirely polished or entirely brushed to save time and money, but they opted to add some design elements, which is appreciated. Every other watch in this series goes for a bold look, combining unconventional colors with either stainless steel or faux gold cases and bracelets. I’ve covered the Seiko 5 models before, which offer similarly good value for a low cost, so I was after something a bit different; that you may not have considered before. Something a little smaller that could be worn in a range of environments. Measuring a comfortable 37mm in diameter, the Orient 3 Star FAB00009N sits nicely on the wrist of both men and women. Its short lug to lug length of 43mm means it wears relatively small and the vast majority of people won’t have to worry about it overhanging their wrist. Its overall size is inoffensive and not too flashy, which makes it a great everyday watch for those who’d rather fly under the radar. To me, the case dimensions are spot on for a basic everyday watch. It’s nice to see Orient ignored the trend to “upgrade” the 3 Star by enlarging its case size like so many other watch brands.

What are the Best Orient Tristar watches?

Ordinarily, I do not like a watch dial that is nothing but symbols, but the way the Three Star is designed works well. The hands are pencil-shaped and also faceted. They also have a slight line of fluorescent lume to be visible in the dark.

With a depth rating of 200 m (20 bar, 656 ft), this is the perfect watch for everyday life. A three-piece link stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp holds the RE-AU0301B securely on the wrist. Prices for a never-worn model sit around 910 USD. The The markers are usually applied to enhance visibility, although there are also designs with large printed numbers.Covering the watch is a piece of mineral crystal. This is absolutely what I would have expected and is okay. It will provide a bit of scratch protection but is very reflective.
