It's impressive that Goldi and the bears' story is told as well as it is, to the point where many (myself included) see it as having enough meat on its bones to be its own movie. Not only is the adoption aspect of their story well-handled, but they're effective sympathetic antagonists in that they never do anything bad enough to make the audience question why we ought to find them sympathetic. A sad past or a noble goal does not induce sympathy for a character who's committed horrible atrocities or excuse said atrocities. Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas, como siempre) is living his best life. He's beloved by all, he's throwing parties for those who love him, and he's driven by the thrill of adventure. One such party is interrupted not only by the governor of a small town (small potatoes for Puss), but its local giant (slightly less small potatoes). He swiftly defeats both the governor's guards and the giant, earning even more adoration that he was already getting. He proudly proclaims that "the legend [of Puss in Boots] will NEVER die!"
