About this deal

Mystic Light gives you complete control of the RGB lighting for MSI devices and compatible RGB products. AMD's got its own frame interpolation feature reportedly incoming, but Nvidia's Frame Generation is here, and already gifting RTX 40-series gamers free frame rate upgrades with no visible fidelity hit and super smooth gaming even at 4K.

When diving into the intricacies of the RX 7800 XT vs RX 6950 XT specs, it’s evident that both AMD Radeon RX GPUs hold their own, showcasing AMD’s technological marvels across two generations. Let’s not forget both take aim at Nvidia cards, but how do they compare? Well they share a remarkable similarity in several key areas, evident in their VRAM capacities both standing at a generous 16 GB GDDR6. This parity extends to the Memory Interface Width, with both GPUs featuring a 256-bit interface, providing robust channels for data transfer. Specs AMD's Radeon RX 6950 XT, you see, is a proper enthusiast-spec card. You get a 256-bit memory bus and 16GB of VRAM and that means plenty of bandwidth and indeed sufficient VRAM for the latest games. But we no longer live in a world where the old rules of graphics card performance apply. Native resolution and rasterised rendering aren't the only things to consider anymore. Since Nvidia dropped real-time ray tracing as a genuine ting in 2018 it's gained ever more traction in the intervening years. It's not just gaming technology, either. We don't know if the RTX 40-series support for FP8 calculations on the tensor cores will prove important in the future. The AV1 video encoding/decoding support on the other hand is already taking off. AMD and Intel offer AV1 encoding support as well, on their latest generation GPUs, but the 6950 XT is a previous generation part. The reverse takes place when we turn to the ray tracing benchmarks. There, the RTX 4070 leads by 21% on average at 1440p… except neither GPU really provides a great gaming experience at 1440p native with ray tracing. Dropping to 1080p actually increases the leads by a few percent, while at 4K the lead shrinks to 20%. The Radeon RX 6950 XT in this review is based on the same RDNA2 graphics architecture as the other Radeon RX 6000 cards and built on the same 7 nm process as the RX 6900 XT. What's more, the two even share an identical core configuration as they max out the "Navi 21" silicon—5,120 stream processors across 80 RDNA2 compute units, 80 Ray Accelerators, 320 TMUs, and 128 ROPs. To create the RX 6950 XT, AMD innovated in three distinct directions. It is, of course, never a good time to upgrade in PC land when you're concerned about the relentless pace of technical innovation and advancement. Our general advice is, if you need a new piece of hardware right now, buy it. But that has to change when you get within six months of the birth of a significant new generation. Although it’s a disappointing release, the RX 6950 XT is still a supremely powerful graphics card. It should last several years before you need an upgrade, especially considering its modest power requirements. Should you buy it?

The same is true for games that support only FSR2 but not DLSS. But exclusive DLSS support is about seven times more likely than exclusive FSR2 support. Currently 234 games support DLSS and not FSR2, while only 33 support FSR2 but not DLSS — though many of the games on both lists are relatively unknown.Another benefit is that the 3D V-cache technology can also help to reduce power consumption by reducing the number of times the GPU has to access the main system memory, which can be power-hungry. Where the value goes out the window is with the AMD and Nvidia refresh products, and of course, the "halo" products. For rasterization performance, the 6900 XT is much better value than the RTX 3090, saving you around 28% per frame, but for high resolution gaming the RTX 3090 is the faster halo product with better features.
