Dot and Doug Halloway are Dee Dee's mom and dad. They've appeared in a few comics, the novel Big Nate Goes for Broke, and the Big Nate episode "Sixtween Candles". Nate is given so many detentions that the teachers put him on "Nate Watch". To get out of this, Nate helps Dee Dee put on the new musical and casts the teachers as the stars, but things don't go as well as expected. The story has its own twists and bits of spices since it does not only focus on the mischief of the lead character. The young boy also has his love interest, a girl named Jenny Jenkins, whom he is absolutely sure that one day will fall for him just like the way he does. The young boy’s heart has been captured since they were in grade one but unfortunately the feelings does not seem to be reciprocated. If there is anything the young girl feels for Nate, that is not fondness towards the leading man in the comic strip. Although this gives him a charming effect, his unbelievable list of detention records and daily antics at school cannot be ignored. I probably could have done without that action, but Nate does not disappoint with his clever ways of interacting with the world. I really liked his friendships with DeeDee, Francis, and Teddy. My son did say the book was a little shorter than he was used to, but perhaps that was because he usually has a hard copy to read.

It's April Fools Day and Nate tries to find the perfect prank inspired by his hero Brad Gunter, but things get crazier when Nate sees him in person. Meanwhile, Principal Nichols tries to hide himself from all the pranks planned. The gerbil in Nate's social studies class. Nate and the other students frequently confide in him or comment about his emotional state. Sherman's sarcastic responses and comments are shown to readers via inner monologue. On 26 January 2016, Trudy was invited to Lindsay's party. Trudy asked Lindsay if she could bring Nate along too, and Lindsay said yes. Nate enjoyed the idea at first, but when he told Francis and Teddy about it, they brought up that Dee Dee's party was on the same date. Femme Fatality later inspired Nate to create his own super-hero comic called "Eve of Destruction", though he later changed the character to male, and called the comic "Steve of Destruction". The author used his sixth-grade experiences to create the comic strip, which was later adapted into a book series.
