About this deal

Maggiehas been happily alone for ten years, at least this is what she tells herself. When Tom comes to her rescue after a library meeting, never did she imagine a friendship that could change her life. As Maggie helps Tom navigate the best way to ask out Farrah, Tom helps Maggie realize the mistakes of her past won't define her future. So, just to clarify, I LOVED this book. Tom and Maggie were delightful, their story made me both laugh and cry. It’s hard to convey what a charming, affecting, uplifting and entertaining read it is. What could be better than to read a story based around a library that references lots of other wonderful books, and makes the reader feel every bit as much part of the story as Maggie and Tom? This means that the impact of reading The Library lasts long after the story has been enjoyed.

A touching story of a friendship between a troubled teenager, a yoga-practising farming woman in her seventies and a local library. A delight!' – Sunday Times bestselling author Katie Fforde I recived a copy of The Library from NetGalley and Aria & Aries in exchange for an honest review, Bella Osborne's book is beautifully written, it made me cry in a good way, my heart feels full of hope, and five big stars from me. The theme of this book is the possible closure of a local library, which is not a new premise. However this book is about so much more.

Humour and poignancy

The farming part, that’s the food connection, right? I mean, after all, you do write about food, and it makes sense to fall for a book with farming overtones. Or does it?” I loved this story, with its strong central characters and the library front and centre. By the end of the story it made me determined to make the most of my local library before it is too late. There is a part of me that hopes I find a Maggie there. @Bookmadjo Read the full review This is a very enjoyable and heartwarming story about a sixteen year old boy and a seventy two year old woman who meet at the local library and accidentally become friends. Tom Harris feels as though he is invisible. “Not actually invisible – that would make me interesting and I’m not. I’m the person others find easy to forget. The one who is lost in the crowd.”

About Bella Osborne

As Tom and Maggie leave the library that Saturday, something happens that makes their paths cross, and changes the direction of both their lives. Maggie is a seventy two year old, self sufficient person, who lives alone on a small holding out side of town. Maggie was an eco warrior long before it was fashionable.

The Library is a charming contemporary fiction novel about the friendship between a lonely teenager and a stoic old lady. It’s not my usual reading fare, but I do like the occasional heartwarmer in between all the thrillers, and this one hit all the right notes. The Library is a beautifully uplifting story full of wit, warmth and tender moments, with community at its heart and characters you truly care about' -- Cressida McLaughlin REVIEWED BY LINDA HILL If ever there was joy in book form it’s The Library by Bella Osborne. It is utterly glorious. I really really like it when I find an author whose work I enjoy so much I want to read more of their stuff. Bella Osborne is now on my discovery list.
