About this deal

The Vivo X80 Pro 5G is one of the best camera phones of 2022, and now it's been officially announced for Europe, with UK availability from July 7, it should be a serious consideration if available in your region. X80 Pro has a 32MP front camera and a rear four-camera system consisting of a 50MP ultra-sensing camera with GNV sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 48MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP gimbal portrait camera, and an 8MP periscope camera. The 12MP gimbal portrait camera is the core upgrade that allows for video enhancement and stability, while X80 Pro's main camera also includes an exclusively customised 'ultra-sensing' GNV sensor to optimise reflectivity and reduce stray light paired with a High Transmittance Glass Lens for low dispersion and temperature drift to reduce glaring.

Designed with the consumer's needs in mind, the new X80 Pro has significant battery upgrades that can accommodate the lifestyles of all users. The X80 Pro supports 80W FlashCharge, while also supporting 50W wireless FlashCharge with a large 4700 mAh battery. With such a sizeable battery, X80 Pro can get a full charge in just 36 minutes. The X80 Pro Dual Stereo Speaker along with its powerful bass provides a balanced and improved overall sound effect, bringing dual speakers to vivo X series in the UK for the first time. On that front, the Vivo has an advantage in a few areas, with a slightly faster chipset than the UK version of the S22 Ultra (though the same one as US models), plus faster charging whether wired or wireless. Still, if you can get past that then this phone is truly fantastic, and nowhere more so than the camera. Samsung may still have the periscope crown, but Vivo’s main camera and ultrawide are almost certainly the best around, especially at night, and this is one of the few Android phones to come close to the iPhone on video. Specs X80 Pro is equipped with vivo standard charger (FlashCharge adapter 20V / 4A), and supports up to 80W.The Wireless FlashCharge supports up to 50W. The actual charging power is dynamically adjusted as the scene changes, and subject to actual use.

Low-light photos shot on the phone look competitive, and video captured at up to 8K also looks good –steady, sharp, and richly coloured. Enthusiasts will appreciate the manual modes Vivo includes, and the Zeiss colour tuning is also a boon for imaging fans. Vivo X80 Pro 5G review: Performance Vivo has migrated its mobile gimbal tech to the first telephoto camera –a 50mm, f/1.9 lens matched with a 1/2.93" Sony IMX 663 sensor. While the specs are less impressive, the gimbal stabilization should help eke out decent performance here. The X80 Pro contains top-of-the-line photography upgrades while maintaining the classic flagship features that make vivo the go-to brand for mobile photography. Users can continue to create photography and videography masterpieces with ease through vivo' s user-oriented innovations. Furthering the pursuit for premium photography and videography experience, X80 Pro is equipped with the latest iteration of vivo' s imaging chip, the vivo V1+, delivering an elevated experience to users with a built-in AI system for professional-level visual enhancement. The X80 Pro includes an added feature; AI Video Enhancement that allows the device to automatically identify the right mode for the light conditions, prompting users to choose between video HDR and night mode depending on the scenario. Furthermore, the vivo V1+ chip enhances the X80 Pro's visual experience in display and gaming. The X80 Pro 5G isn't affordable and it isn't perfect, but it's a very good camera phone that's stylish, premium, and feature-rich. Its camera system is one of the most complete solutions available thanks to no real weak links. The main camera is strong, the telephoto comes in a close second, and the periscope and autofocusing ultra-wide camera both bolster the system with fair to good performance for the most part.

The overall effects can also be enhanced with vivo's cinematic lens simulation algorithm and a dual-camera depth-of-field technology that combines flare rendering and processing. By recognising highlight points, the brightest point in the picture is identified and artistic blue light trails can be created, similar to the blue streak in cinema lenses. The main camera does a great job of capturing a shallow depth of field when photographing close-up objects up to around 1.5m away – impressive for a smartphone. While the 50mm lens is there for portraits, therefore, the main camera also does an impressive job of capturing faces. vivo' s groundbreaking technologies in mobile photography and top performance make X80 Pro a powerhouse device designed with an understanding of user's requirements. ZEISS Style Portrait (ZEISS Biotar Style Bokeh, ZEISS Planar Style Bokeh, ZEISS Distagon Style Bokeh, ZEISS Sonnar Style Bokeh) are recreated in X80 series by taking the following lens as inspiration:Inspired by the look of professional cameras, the square and circle aesthetic that forms the lens and base is incorporated within the exterior design concept of X80 Pro, to remind of the X series' professional photography capabilities. By encasing the lens within a circle motif, the visual design invites users to see the world through the camera and highlights the Professional Imaging power of ZEISS.
