About this deal

The new router Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro (Huawei B535-232) was available in European countries for a few months, which is integrated LTE Cat7 modem and allows speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink. As we introducted before, Huawei B535 router has many predecessor such as the Huawei B618 or the Huawei B818, which can provide much faster link speeds, but they also cost a lot more expensive than Huawei B535. The Huawei B535-333 is a fast, reliable 4G+ router from Huawei featuring two SMA-female antenna connections, for use with an external antenna. While it's not the fastest model Huawei offers, it is highly reliable and can achieve speeds as high as 400Mb/s. Still, maybe you’ve already got the Huawei B535 WebBox and are wondering whether there’s any need to upgrade, or maybe you’re considering buying it from elsewhere. In either case, our review can help you decide. With slight caveats (see below), an iPad connected directly to the B535's wifi (not via the USG) does have internet connectivity.

We sell this router with our Bluespot antennas, and it comes highly recommended. Be sure to enable the external antenna ports in advanced system settings if you wish to use it with an external antenna. GSM network is not supported. In view of the now very good LTE network expansion, this is surely not be a good problem for most users. I wondered if devices connected to the 333 were working ok on EE without the connection to the USG, to get an idea if there's a problem with the EE SIM / APN in isolation. My 333 will not work on 4G with a Lebara (Vodafone) SIM, but it works fine on 3G. With an iD Mobile SIM, both 3G & 4G work without issue. The B535 routers from Three, seem to work fine with Three and some other carriers but not all and not in a consistent way. I did have a B535-232, it worked fine on Three, Lyca & Lebara but for some reason it would not work with an iD mobile SIM, my B535-333 works fine with iD but only 3G with Lyca. Strangely, mine works fine with an EE SIM and shows a 4G+ connection (band aggregation?) but is on a later version of firmware. The Huawei B535 - also known as the Three 4G Hub or the Huawei HomeFi Plus - is a 4G home broadband router, which, as well as being able to buy SIM-free from some stores, you can also get on contract from Three. As for software, this isn’t something you’ll likely be interacting with much, but the Huawei B535 WebBox does have a simple web interface, allowing you to configure settings and read messages – as there’s no display, you have to access this from an external device.

Unfortunately, this is of little practical value here, because (a) the 4G aerial and B535 are in a different building; and (b) the load balancing can only be done via the USG. And the ADSL service is not great .... The 4GEE Home Router 2 meanwhile matches the Huawei B535 / Huawei HomeFi Plus for speed, and can connect up to 64 devices at once, but it has two (rather than four) ethernet ports. So again, it’s not quite as good as the B535. Once set up, there’s a lot to like here. The B535 WebBox can get up to 64 devices online at once, which ismore than most people should need. It’s also a match for the Three 4G Hub, the Three 5G Hub, and the likes of the 4GEE Home Router 2, as well as topping the Vodafone GigaCube 4G. Beyond these, the most obvious alternative is fibre broadband. This is potentially faster (depending on what’s available where you are), but setup is more time consuming and typically requires an engineer visit. You also typically need a landline, which can add to the cost. PlansIt’s a simple, plain white rectangular box with some status indicators on the front and a grey band around the edge. It looks fine, and for better or worse it won’t stand out as much as the aforementioned Huawei AI Cube, or even the likes of the Vodafone GigaCube, which is plain too but has a more noticeable tower-like design. One of the joys of 4G routers is that they’re usually incredibly easy to set up, as is the case with the Huawei B535 / Huawei HomeFi Plus. As such, the WebBox won’t look out of place in most homes, and at 219 x 130 x 15mm it won’t take up too much space either. Setup There is indeed the ability to load balance across ADSL (Plusnet) and 4G (via Huawei), using the USG's two WAN ports. Hence the need to connect the USG to the B535 -- which is what refuses to work .... and I did originally manage to make a couple of calls to/from my mobile, with a 20 or 30 year old handset.
