About this deal

The Garrett ACE 150 is the lowest priced in Garrett’s range but the overall design is the same as their pricier models. I currently use an Equinox 800 but regularly compare signals to my friends Vanquish 540. The Vanquish finds everything I do. It just feels like a rugged quality machine. The Vanquish does have a neat feature of having automatic Noise Cancelling functionality. The Ace Apex doesn’t have this. This function helps eliminate unwanted external electromagnetic interference. If you’re a beginner and want a better chance of finding something possibly very valuable, consider visiting the nearest beach, especially the “towel line” where sunbathers lay out their towels. Given that so many people visit beaches all year round, you have a very good chance of finding something valuable and contemporary, like a ring, watch or bracelet that’s slipped off the owner without them realising.

A coin will ring out the high bell while low conductivity will sound out lower. It’s pretty easy to figure out. You can adjust the newly upgraded ‘pulse width modulation’ system to your audio preference. As we mentioned earlier, the Garrett ACE 250 has a sizable elliptical coil to cover more ground as you search. That’s not the only good thing about it! It’s also submersible. You can use the detector in a few inches of water without having to worry about damage. The coil is waterproof which is essential here in the UK. The coil was soaked in grass dew after I’d used it but it continues to work without issues. However, the control box is not waterproof so I was careful about where I laid it down to dig and wouldn’t want to take it out in the rain. The ACE 300 is second in line to Garrett’s ACE throne, after the ACE 200 and beaten only by the ACE 400. Low tones are iron, higher for coins and my wedding ring pinged the highest tone. The tones were helpful because it meant Max didn’t have to look at the screen so much, relying on the dings instead . A good target produced a double ding.

There’s also a coin depth feature that tells you how far down to dig. It has 2 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch, and 8 inch plus markers. This is handy because it kept mess to a minimum and ensured we weren’t digging more than needed (it’s hard work!). This low-frequency metal detector is suitable for simple metal detecting, such as looking for coins, jewelry, and other tiny metallic items on dry ground, dry beaches, or freshwater environments. An issue I noticed was that it’s not a friendly detector – it does not like the company of other detectors! The ACE 300 has an adjustable frequency of 8 kHz and can be tweaked if you’re detecting with a friend (the best days) and your machines are singing a duet, or there are overhead cables interfering with the signal. Modes Constant signals that yield nothing lead to boredom and a toy metal detector that ends up in the shed, and then the tip. Iron, which forms most of the trash you don’t want like nails, is the lowest tone. Coins and jewellery are higher tones. The tones are notably different and it’s easy to figure out which is for what metal.

VDI Target ID – having some numbers assigned to different types of targets is visual and may be more comprehensive for the majority of users instead of trying to interpret only the audio signalHowever, you may want to explore local retailers or international platforms, because there is a high chance of finding additional bundles with some accessories already added. Garrett ACE 300 Manual You can set the device to look for only jewelry, coins, or relics. There’s also an “All-Metal” mode with no discrimination. The final mode is a custom mode. You can set the discrimination system how you see fit and save your settings for easy reference.

The one difference between this and the earlier ACE models is the new double D search coil addition! Being widely known that different VLF frequencies have different benefits and shortcomings, the race was now on however to seek the newest, latest technology and multi VLF was it!

Conclusion

Iron and other rubbish, such as pull tabs and foil, are often ignored. Few decent targets, on the other hand, appear and sound a lot like garbage targets. So they could be skipped in these fixed modes. If a goal has an irregular tone, it’s better to find it in Zero Disc and compare it to your all-metal mode. 5. Sensitivity Can Be Controlled However, there’s every chance you’ll be venturing onto private land, so you will definitely need permission from the landowner first, or you could forfeit anything you find. A recently ploughed field is the best place to start since the topsoil has just been turned and the ground is soft enough to dig. Amazingly, you won’t need to dig too deep either because, as some experts have pointed out, a ring or coin lost on the surface around 100 to 200 years ago will only sink between 3cm and 20cm over time. This handy feature indicated whether the find was at 2 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch, or 8 plus inches depth. It’s great to have choice over the machine and the sensitivity is an important feature, but I’d say it’s for when you’ve got more experience. Also, Notch Discrimination can be used for spotting very specific objects, for example, lost jewelry. If you have a sample of metal/material, you can scan the sample in zero Discrimination mode and then find the exact pixel in the Notch Discrimination that matches the sample response. Switch off all other pixels, and you will be able to spot the item of the same chemical composition as your sample, by detecting only this specific pixel. Garrett ACE 300 Accessories
