About this deal

Another guy, clearly crazy, is going through the garbage around town, finding artifacts he thinks are linked to said Barn. His therapist thinks he needs to be hospitalized about this fantasy, this madness. Until the doc also thinks she sees that darned barn! the panelling, layout, framing, etc. is the best thing about this series. other graphic novels try to do something inventive with their layout but mainly just do different sized rectangles. this one really goes all out almost constantly.

Salvatore, Brian; Grover, Rowan (27 June 2018). "Lemire County #1: June 2018". Multiversity Comics. Shortly after his first encounter with Mabel, Gideon fell head over heels for her, and continually attempts to get Mabel to return the feeling through various schemes, but to no avail. Despite his crush, Gideon seeks revenge on Mabel and her family (whom he views as the only thing standing between a successful relationship). Mabel, on the other hand, finds Gideon to be creepy and unattractive, not to mention totally evil, and despises him and every attempt he makes to enact his vengeance.

Gideon Falls is a masterfully crafted ‘southern gothic’ horror story, punctuated by richly textured and surreal art. The panels meld together in mind-melting fashion without losing the flow of the narrative – the work is utterly stunning. Furthermore, the story is consistently unsettling and has a pervasive sense of dark mystery that draws the reader deep into its twisted confines. Drawing on elements of both horror and science fiction, Gideon Falls is a continual reveal of mystery and surprise plot twists. It's a slow burn and can be a fairly intense read, but everything about this feels exciting and fresh. The second thing that bothers me, I'm bored. When I know exactly what's happening and the characters don't, and when a significant portion of the plot regards the period between the characters noticing the fishy thing and then getting to the level of knowledge I am as a viewer, that's all boring time. Lemire’s abilty with chacter and dialogue, especially as related to the paranormal theme is on full display and the art was spot on. I would love to learn about the flow of work between the creative team as this all just fit together perfectly. I know Lemire and Sorrentino work together a lot and you can tell they just get each other. This was easily the darkest and best I’ve seen Sorrentino, the art couldn’t have been more perfect.

The art is fantastic! Sorrentino’s gritty style suits this book perfectly! It sorta reminds me of a mix of Azaceta and Sean Phillips which is something I say with the highest compliments. An amazing artist! The book does come at a higher price – this in itself is not a deterrent given the amount of content and presentation. Nevertheless, fans who have already collected the single issues, or softcover graphic novels, may not want to shell out for the new edition. Where Can I Read It? Lil' Gideon is a child psychic and self-promoter of his own tourist trap, the Tent of Telepathy. He's adorable but has a dark side. Personality [ ] Viñeta interior de Gideon Falls: Vía Crucis Andrea Sorrentino deslumbra con una narrativa llena de recursos Alternate Universe: The two protagonists reside in these. The Pentoculus allows Bishop Burke to visit many other versions of Gideon Falls, including The Wild West, Steampunk, and Big Brother Is Watching versions. The city and rural polarity is working in multiple ways,” says Lemire. “First, in terms of pure aesthetics, the book contrasts the wide-open spaces and natural world of the small town with the dense and dirty world the big city.” There's a desperation in the voice of the characters. Letterer Steve Wands captures this with some scratchy word balloons. They're not pure white. There are these little imperfections that provide a unique look and feel. The infected are a completely different story. They're confident and powerful yet slimy. The font has a smooth quality to it, like how a snake might sound if it could speak. The remake obviously came after a shitload of other zombie movies, including a nonsensical Italian movie where people were teleporting and the ending seems to be just random scraps of film left over. So, the people who made that were smart and said, Hey, let's just skip the part where people are in disbelief and skeptical.

Lemire looks to do be doing something like what he did a few years ago in his Vertigo book Trillium with the parallel worlds/storylines – the priest is in one world/timeline, the mental patient is in another. I think that’s what the visual inversions mean – and that last panel. It’s just another unoriginal aspect bolted onto this patchwork of other pop culture elements. As Lemire's bifurcated narratives develop and revolve around each other, he uses tropes from different genres to control the pace of the story and subvert audiences' expectations. Gideon Falls begins as a brooding gothic horror story and eventually evolves into a fast-paced science fiction romp. But even as the pace and style of the narrative shift, Lemire maintains a consistent and clear voice that keeps the story feeling grounded even in its most outlandish moments. I move to a town where people say there's a Ghost Barn and a bunch of weird shit has happened and people see the Ghost Barn mysteriously appear and disappear. Reasonably, I'm skeptical, so a series of events must occur before I can get on board and get to the place where I'm like, "What are we going to do about this goddamn Ghost Bard?"

If you're in a movie, and if someone is pleading with you, swearing, and if that person is pretty normal most of the time, then I think it's worth your time to say, "Well, if you believe it this much, that's enough for me to give you a couple hours of my time." Li'l Gideon's appearance is based on Benny Hinn, a famous Christian televangelist who claims to be a prophet. A slam dunk demonstration of why Jeff Lemire is one of my favorite comic book writers; hell, one of my favorite writers period. Gideon Falls is finally coming together and it was totally worth the wait. It set a high bar of terror from the beginning and it continues to surpass that with each chapter. That's an impressive feat 25 issues in. As we approach the grand finale, I cannot wait to see what is in store for us, especially if this chapter is any indication. Grades:

The team of Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino and Dave Stewart works wonderfully well together. While the story was constructed by Lemire, with this release including the mini concept comic with his art, his aesthetic would not have captured the nightmare fuel that Sorrentino is able to create. This is particularly true in the image of the grinning man, a corrupted evil entity that has a sort of ‘creepypasta vibe’ to the design. Interweaving all of this, Dave Stewart’s muted coloring works ideal for the horror capturing that sense of ‘suburban gothic’ aesthetic. Conversely, when dealing with the abstract, the coloring becomes expressive to aptly match the shifting tone. Ultimately, the work is masterfully crafted and representative of three creators at the top of their game. Father Fred settles into life at Gideon Falls and holds his first mass. He meets most of his parishioners and the members of town, including the more unusual ones. Some pretty interesting artwork… Every time I turn around, it seems, there's a new Jeff Lemire series. Nothing wrong with that. He seems to be the hot writer of the moment, and, so far, he’s doing a good job of keeping the momentum going.

Writer

There's a trope in horror that I'm all set on. By which I mean I've had enough and would like something else. Gideon Falls is an American horror comic book series created by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Andrea Sorrentino, published by Image Comics. The series ran for 27 issues from March 2018–December 2020. Everybody's losing their minds, both in Gideon Falls and around me about Gideon Falls comics. I don't. And I fail to see (except involvement of Lemire, who's THE GUY now) what the fuzz is all about. Yes, Gideon Farts are different, especially for comics fast-food consumers (what are the DC fried comics and McMarvel producing). But sometimes too different. But Gideon falls try hard to be "different". And it feels superficial to me. Well, the story is interesting, but it's all over the place. The art is... interesting. Works well for the "horror" parts, but the mundane world just looks... unappealing. Also, this is a good example of why I avoid reading the issues. The waiting between issues strips me out of the thrill and lets me forget what I realized from the comics. And in some cases, I eventually realize that the only thrill I have left from that series is waiting to next issue. And this is almost the case of Gideon Falls. So I strongly suggest reading this as the whole (even wait for second (and I hope the last) book). If I would do that, I might enjoy it much more. Announced in 2017, Gideon Falls was billed as Jeff Lemire’s unique take on the horror genre, focused on exploring the idea of a source of evil versus relying on gore. The series received early accolades, winning best new series at the 2019 Eisner awards, with Dave Stewart winning best coloring the following year. In addition, the series is set to be developed into a TV show (though the current status is ‘in development’).
