About this deal

Now, this is something which under normal circumstances would turn me way the hell off a book. But I had a lot of faith in KA’s story-telling ability and so I spent some time prior to reading it trying to understand or come to terms with it. I'm gonna try something new and write my review as I go along reading the book. I feel like this will be one of those books I have "revelations" about as I read along that won't be satisfied with just my stat updates. And also, it's a freaking LONG book! But I promised Princess N I'd read all of it and not skip so I will keep that promise IF SHE WILL DO THE SAME! (You know what I'm talking about P2) Thankfully one of the women speaks her language and explains to her what is going on. Apparently all the women are part of a ritual called "The Wife Hunt". Korwahk tribe has this ritual every 2 years. All the women are paraded in front of the warrior men...set free to run...and are then hunted. Did I say hunted....why yes I did. This is how they capture their new wife. Once captured, they are claimed.....and with claimed I mean raped. Did I say raped....yes I most certainly did... Yep, this was why Zahnun was in such a bad mood. Three weeks [of rape] and she was still like this?

It’s a legacy that feels like some amalgam of Isiah Thomas, Jason Kidd and Gary Payton – the latter two of whom Paul would love to emulate, with their late-stage, career-topping titles for unfamiliar new teams. While Boston's defense was talked up coming into the series it was Golden State's resistance that proved the difference. The Golden Dynasty makes me smile so much. It's such a beautiful story. I love how Lahn and Circe overcome their obstacles of communication. Lahn learning English and Circe learning Korwahk. IT'S SO HEARTWARMING I wanna cry. Their whole journey of falling in love under the most unusual circumstances. Lahn and Circle are literally people from two different worlds who find their soulmates in each other. While there is a plot, most of Lahn and Circe scenes are them together in bed just laying in each other arms and trying to communicate and it's making me so soft 🥺 You have rare beauty the like I have never seen but you will be more beautiful heavy with my seed,” he stated softly. I have read this wonderful book many many times. I can honestly say, that this is my absolute favorite KA book...and I have many KA favorits.

Basically, Circe is a normal kinda gal from Seattle who wakes up one day in another world which is very much like our world but from hundreds of years ago and maybe with some other oddities like talking tigers and magic. She finds herself as part of a 'wife hunt' whereby King Lahn sets his sights upon her and battles for her to be his queen. Dax Lahn screamed of Drogo from the Games of Thrones and picturing him looking like Jason Mamoa was no hardship. I have since learned that the author did in fact use him as inspiration for this book and I'm glad for it. Better yet, Paul’s biggest strength – his near four-to-one career assist-to-turnover ratio, and precise and exacting leadership – plays to the Warriors’ recent achilles heel: occasionally loose passing, a semi-inert half-court offense without Curry on the floor, and offers Kerr’s side an injection of efficient scoring along with steady, smart playmaking. A story about two people from two totally different worlds. A beautiful love story that was just epically good. There is some drama, angst, a lot of action and romance! These Fantasyland books have me looking forward to the day my other world twin decides to switch places with me ;) hehe! Anyway, this is one of my absolute favorite KA reads! A MUST READ!!!

He's a husband, he's a king, he's a man but remember above all, my queen, always remember, above all, he...is...a warrior.” Moreover, Paul replaces Poole in small ways, too, bringing grit, guile and defensive intensity in the margins, in place of his predecessor’s at times passive on- (and off-)ball defensive tendencies. Those often rendered playing Poole in extended, high-leverage stretches untenable, as seen in last season’s Western semi-final defeat to the Lakers. I love Lahn and Circe is pretty adorable herself. There were a few errors in the book, but I didn't bother to highlight them. I was in a hurry to read the story. There are some men, no matter what blood flows in their veins or what teachings were drilled into their heads, who are just good men.” random: i cant believe out of ALL the savage and heinous shit that Lahn’s done, the only thing that pisses me off is that he cant seem to utter the word sorry. I can almost hear Diandra scolding me "that is just who and how he is. it is thEiR wAy, my sweet."

Re-Read Update: Nothing really to add! Just a good, reliable re-read when I'm not feeling my tbr list 😘

But hey, at least her husband is the biggest, baddest, most gorgeous warrior king in the land and can give her multiple orgasms multiple times a day. I went to bed in my bed in a world I understood and I woke up here in a world that was entirely foreign to me, everything about it, and not one thing about it was good. And now I was running for my life.
Circe is just a girl from Seattle who woke up one morning surrounded by Korwahk warriors and many other women who are getting ready to be ‘hunted’. It is the way of the Korwahk, how they choose their brides. And Circe gets chosen by none other than the King of Suh Tunak, Dax Lahn. Dax Lahn is not just a alpha male, he is the alpha male. He’s a warrior, a savage, a king. Circe is freaked. She can’t understand Lahn (they speak a different language) and she doesn't’ know how she got there or how she is going to get home. With the help of a translator who later becomes a friend, Dax Lahn and Circe start to communicate. Lahn is crazy about Circe. He loves how fierce she is. She is his true Golden Queen. I absolutely loved Lahn. To me, there is nothing better than a dominant alpha who turns into such a protective, loving mate. He did things I didn't love, but he also watched, and learned, and adapted. His love for his golden queen makes this an epic love story.

Our hero, Dax Lahn, is one of those men. And for a guy from such a brutal culture, he was actually pretty darn swoony!! And Circe is just an incredible heroine – she is strong-willed, fiesty, sassy, deeply understanding and I instantly felt connected to her character. And not long into the book, it becomes abundantly clear how proud Lahn is of her, of having found a warrior women. And he really does do his best, in his own savage-brute way, of trying to figure her out. I enjoyed this a lot more listening to the audiobook and that’s mostly bc i didn’t have to torture myself w the bad/cringey writing. however, the downside of it was that i couldn’t use Khal drogo’s voice in my head bc of the narrator but wtv you get some, you lose some 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kristen Ashley never ceases to amaze me with the beauty of the books she writes. Seriously, this story is just magical <3 Out there, King Lahn is a fierce warrior but in here, my Lahn... kah Lahn is sweet.”
Circe was a fantastic heroine! She was also strong and tough, but so funny, feisty and quirky. She was soft, but she also had what it took to be a Queen. I loved how possessive she got over Lahn. Dear friends, if you enjoy a good PNR(paranormal romance) I highly suggest you bump this series up on your to-read list! You are my golden queen. You are my tigress. You are my Circe. Always, Circe. ALWAYS. Never will I allow your gold to be taken from me. NEVER. Understand this, Circe, and NEVER FORGET.”
