As we've seen with several Brother printers over the years, the MFC-L8900CDW's photo output, while in no way bad, was not as bright, vibrant, and detailed as we typically see from most other printers, not just color lasers. Some of our test images came out too dark, and lighter areas were devoid of detail in some places. If your application calls for a lot of photo printing, such as images embedded in brochures and other marketing material, we suggest you choose another model. Were it not for the MFC-L8900CDW's somewhat below-average graphics and photo print quality, it would have easily walked away with an Editors' Choice nod. But first, let's talk about text quality, which is superb—near typesetter quality down to the smallest size we test (4 points) for common serif and sans-serif fonts. Our test decorative fonts, too, printed well at smaller point sizes than we usually see. Text quality is highly acceptable for all business applications across the board. If you can open it on your apple device, chances are you can print it with AirPrint and an AirPrint compatible printer. Airprint works with Safari, Mail, Photos, iWork, PDF's in iBooks and many third-party AirPrint compatible apps available from the app store.
